For gods sake. We all have been striving hard and raising webforms just to get a way out for COPR holders. Whose PRV visa is about to expire. And now you are talking buII-sheet. Common man!!
What they have already announced will not be taken back. People who want to travel can travel.

But,
1. There could be people who wanted to travel but couldn't travel because of home country travel bans and maybe just didn't get a flight booking before CoPR exipred. E.g. think about someone who gets a day or two after next week's announcement to book tickets and travel. I just spent 2 hours waiting on call with my travel agent he didn't have a clear answer to my quert.

2. "NOT GETTING CORONA" is the core of all this mess and making people travel who don't want to take risk, which actually will help in "flatteting the curve", doesn't seem positive.

In both of above cases it will be sensible for IRCC to give some kinda extension to CoPR holders with expiry in next few days. I hope along with next week's announcement we get more clarity on this front.

I got a very generic answer to my webform reuest had no option but to tweet my query again.

It goes without saying, people should only speak for themselves.

If people want to land they should land now, if people want to ask for extensions let them ask for extensions.

Do what's best for you without having a negative effect on others' choices.

Start next week...they will provide more details on how we will proceed...I'm.sire there is a flexibility for people who can't travel or people who are living in areas where outbound flight are restricted and so on...
Yes I have to travel if they open the border next week. However, my bigger issue is that the UAE is not letting residents enter the country till April 1 and if that is extended then I will be in bigger trouble. I know they have said that they will offer plenty of flexibility if people are unable to complete the landing before the expiry of the COPR due to COVID-19 but would like some clarity on the extra time they will provide.

Guys, What about soft landing (Flag pole)? It said "but who had not yet travelled to Canada". Does that mean only people flying/driving in but wasnt in Canada? That's just unfair for the inland applicants my opinion
Hi. I'm in Canada and I'm waiting for the signal to do flag pole. I hope they would not be that strict.

Hi Ziad
Check the last post on uae_barq Instagram. They have worked on an app for UAE residents who need to come back to UAE urgently.

Quick Question - Are they booking any landing appointments at the offices for people within Canada, what is the wait time like?

I called IRCC agent on Mar 02 to book appointment at Ottawa office. No response yet. Was told it's 2-4 weeks' wait.

As far as 'flattening the curve' is concerned, with all due respect, I don't think they need us telling them how to go about achieving that on twitter. The greatest minds in the world and healthcare experts are there to advise them on how to maintain their travel restrictions.

Just my opinion. Nothing personal.
Yes, it's your opinion.Safety first.. yes . But I think they must have gone through a lot of talking before they came to that conclusion.. So many people were suppose to travel this month and next.. An extension is okay.. Go ahead but don't ruin it for others.. Some have shut their lives and were ready to move before the ban..They are presently living out of the box.

Hi guys, I'm in the US and was planning to travel in early May. But looking at the situation here (i'm in the state which is on its way to becoming the epicenter of covid), I'm extremely hesitant to make any major moves right now. I'm not sure how a new immigrant in Canada would have access to healthcare/meds right away (god forbid if you get infected on your way there) or how we'd find supplies and basic necessities when everything is closed/low on supplies. I'm traveling alone and don't have any family in Canada.

Does anyone know if we can still request an extension? Is anyone else still considering that?

EDIT: Has anyone who's requested an extension due to covid heard back yet? Mind sharing what they said?

Hello friends,

Landed yesterday on YYZ with COPR as new immigrant.

My spouse was supposed to fly out from India (BOM) directly to Toronto on August 24th but we took a decision to prepone the trip and got a ticket for March 19th and flew out. Main reason to do this was not delay before any more bans are implemented at either end. And good we took this decision because in few hours came to know that India has restricted all International travel from March 22nd onward.

At India immigration they asked questions like - what was the purpose of visit and checked COPR, our marriage certificate + my PR card at India immigration. YYZ immigration was easier. They were just surprised the flight allowed to board but other than that - normal questions and said was very lucky! Which I believe we are!!! In these troubled times globally and I have been reading this forum a lot where I see all the problems everyone is facing in context to COPR - this was sheer miracle!

My advice to all - what worked for us was the fact that this was a spouse sponsorship COPR and my MOP had already told me "close relatives of Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents” there will be no problem. We took a risk and it worked for us. I wish everyone the BEST !

We have requested one. Cases in india are growing exponentially and we would just want a little more time because we have a small baby
