I don't mind if they can send PR cards to our home countries and have a remote virtual landing. Jokes aside I think they didn't think this ban through. It seemed like a very hasty decision. My pre-arrival service counselor said that you can still travel but when I contact the embassy they say you can't travel. Everyone is saying different things and contradicting each other. But if somebody here does take the risk to fly please do share your story of what happens at the airport.

Hi to everyone,

My friend just landed in Vancouver. He is a PR already. He spoke to a customs officer, he told him that starting Mar-18-2020 they won't allow anyone besides PR holders, US and Canada citizens. That means that you can't land with your CORP even if you are coming from US. Let's see how the situation is going to develop.

I was supposed to fly from Dubai to Calgary on 21st March on CoPR for the first time. My CoPR expires on 28 July.

I sent an email to IRCC but received an automated response with instructions to raise a webform request. Current response time is 28 days.

Best course of action (in my opinion) :
Until IRCC releases an official statement addressing the common question of whether or not CoPR holders can enter Canada, all discussions are merely speculation. It would NOT be wise to take a risk and travel as you might not be allowed to board the plane, or worse, be denied entry at an airport in Canada.

Best to wait and see how the situation unfolds and hope that it gets better soon.

The news release wasn't contradictory. It specifically mentioned access for Citizens and PR card holders only.
Nothing about work/study permit holders who have already left and need to return to school/ work. If you have a COPR- that means you haven't been granted PR as yet, which means you CANNOT ENTER CANADA- neither by plane or land! I understand it is disappointing but just imagine boarding that plane, flying from home and being denied entry! Contingency plans can be made more easily from your home country in terms of alternate lodging (if you already gave up your apartment). I am in Canada working and have been receiving emails all days from the different stores/ restaurants that are closing until further notice. If you have a relative/ friend in Canada to stay with, why would you risk their health and safety by travelling then staying at their home? If you dont have anyone in Canada to stay with, why would you spend a minimum of CAD$75 per night for accommodations? Are hotels taking new bookings? How will you move around? Uber? Will Uber drivers be working? Ontario and Alberta are under lockdown! BC schools are closed until further notice.
I say, just be patient and work out alternate arrangements in your home country until further notice. If you think not having a job at home is bad, think about not having a job in a foreign country that has a higher exchange rate than yours!

I was told something similar on the number.
Was told definitely do not travel we are very busy and will not process COPR :(
Said ideally do not travel at least for 2 weeks, but you can check back in 1 week :(
I also called a few times, entering Canada from US via land border is not possible for non-US nationals.

Please in which source did you read PR holders? I just saw Permanent Residents. The problem is to know the status of CoPR holders. Even border offices are confused about it.

to add to this, I know a couple of couples who got here a couple of months ago (am not a poet), and they started giving interviews. Since a few days, everything's gone silent. One of em is in the F&B industry. He has been told to keep expectations very low till June as things have slowed down drastically.

I was issued CoPR on March 15 (which is still on it's way through courier) and is valid till May 15. Since Canada has closed it's border, shall I raise web form query for not being able to travel before CoPR expiry? Or, I wait for another month and see how things change?
Any thoughts, guys?

Only Canadian citizens and PR holders are allowed to enter in Canada up to 15th April (it may get extended as well) but you can still extend your COPR(in other words tell them to cancel your current one) by letting them know that you will not be able to travel in the period mention and also, let them know once you are sure of your travel plans. after that IRCC will contact with further instructions (or, they will open your application again and give you a new COPR).

NOTE: You have to let them know by web form that you will not be able to travel in the time being.
