I'm an international student in an IT diploma program. On our course we have two types of classes - lectures (theory) and labs (practical).
My teacher told me that attendance for labs is mandatory but its optional for the lectures and skipping lectures will not affect a student's grade. However the teacher still records attendance for both types of classes. This is the thing I'm worried about. That even though lectures are optional, attendance is still taken for it.
So my question is, is it safe for an international student to skip the lectures? They post the slides of the lectures online anyways so you can always catch up there. I always make sure I keep up with all the lessons and attend all the lab sessions.
Will this affect your chances of getting PGWP? Because on my study permit, its written under conditions '' Must be in attendance at institution ''. I don't know what that exactly means.......Whether they mean that you need to attend all of the classes, or skipping the lectures is okay.........Will they see my lack of attendance for the lectures as an issue and say that I didn't meet the conditions of my permit?
