On CIC when i click on "part of a film or media crew it says "dont need work permit"
Does this apply only to those from visa exempt countries or to any country?
so if student get a study permit for canadian university can student cancel study permit and just work under this category without aquiring a work permit?
anyone know what the procedure is??

The key part to qualify is that you must "not enter the Canadian labour market". So to qualify, the work you are planning to do would have to be short and temporary - and typically you would be entering Canada along with a crew from outside of Canada.

What you're talking about doing is entering the Canadian labour market. So short answer is no, not possible to cancel your study permit and work in Canada in film. You don't meet the criteria to work without a work permit since your intention is to enter the Canadian labour market.
