Don't apply now. NNAS reviews your education only, and ADN is not a 4 year nursing degree and it will get you nowhere near comparability to a BScN in Canada. So you'll be wasting time and money applying for an assessment of your education while knowing what the outcome will be (non-comparable). If I were you I would see if I could transfer to a Canadian nursing program--that is your best bet. If that is absolutely impossible, don't apply to NNAS until you have your BSN.

There is no ADN to BSN program in Canada . My advice is finish your BSN and then apply. There are very few RN-BSN programs in Canada which requires you to have a license before they admit you. You certainly are not going to get equivalency with ADN. Also no school is going to admit you because it's a very competitive process to begin with and course sequence will not be the same as well as the content. I have tried this while I was in a BSN program in Canada and I applied to 6-7 schools to have it transferred so I can continue on where I left off but school denied me because course sequence and content is different from school to school even within the same province. Choice is yours to make.

Thanks a lot. I'm starting my RN to BSN in May and will be done by Aprilnext year. I'm wondering if my ADN will be comparable to RPN in Canada? So that I can do a report for RPN then get a job and come in. By the time the report is done I would have finished my BSN but I won't have to wait another year to process. I will then do a new report for my BSN but be working as RPN when it's processing. It's complicated I know but I'm looking for a way to get to Canada by end of next . I will appreciate your advice. thanks

Please note that a curriculum is a crucial requirement for your NNAS application, as that is what your educational assessment is based on. Please request COLLEGE OF NURSING to send detailed curriculum/syllabi directly to NNAS. Please have them include your Full Name and NNAS Applicant Number when they send your course description.
What do they mean by curriculum. is transcripts ok or do they need to send a brief write up on each subject. please advise.

Hi i also have applied with these documents. 3 year diploma in general nursing and one year inmidwifery. After that i did bsc in nursing from the punjab University. And now i have send to wes. What was your report please guid and explained

Course outlines/syllabus for each of the course you have taken at the college/University.
Curriculum is a road map from each program that a student must complete these listed course in order to obtain a degree in a certain discipline. Usually registrars office keep a copy of all the courses required to obtain a BSN or BScN degree.
Where you obtained your nursing education from?
Not a brief write up on each subject. Most people's curriculums are more than 100 pages of information on the courses taken. Complete course syllabi etc. Brief will get you 'non comparable' for sure.

I am in IT however thinking to switch career, so in order to become nurse I am wondering if I can study BScN or any shorter term course to practice nursing in Canada. Will I be able to get study visa for this and after that will I be able to work in Canada as a Nurse and eventually will this path help me in gaining PR in Canada. I just got my NNAS report as COMPARABLE in B2 and SOMEWHAT COMPARABLE in B3 for RN and RPN. Waived ILETS. Applied to cno. What will be the next step? Are they going to give some further studies or OSCE exam or i am going to appear for NCLEX-RN right away once CNO is done with their checking process

RPN in Canada is not comparable to ADN in the US. Both RNs and RPNs are both BSN holders. I was in the same boat and did my NNAS using ADN. I applied to BCCNP with ADN. After I got my BSN, I contacted BCCNP and told them that I got my BSN after the NNAS process had completed. They were okay with this and all I did was ask my college to send my BSN confirmation to BCCNP, and subsequently received RN licensure. I would advice you to go ahead and apply to NNAS with your current ADN and then apply for licensure after you get your BSN. You don't need to do a new report after you get your BSN (unless you're willing to spend an extra $650 and wait another year). I could send you the email that I received from NNAS after I graduated with a BSN, where they told me to contact BCCNP instead, since I had already applied for licensure. They couldn't give me a license with the ADN (which I knew beforehand), but they kept my application until after I received a BSN. After that, the process was super quick (a couple of months tops).

Next will be a lot of waiting. You should also start the PR process (Express Entry or any other that you qualify for) as this will also take a while. First thing here will be IELTS. They waive it for NNAS, but for Express Entry, it's mandatory.
If you hold a degree in IT, that in itself qualifies you for immigration already. If you want to change careers for another reason (other than just immigration), then you can come to Canada for a Master in Nursing degree, which will eventually allow you to practice as a nurse after you sit the test. You DO NOT need to have a nursing degree prior to the Masters degree.
