What if i dont have gic? How much do i need to have upon landing?
There is no specific amount, if you are FP (full fee paying) student i.e paid for at least one-year tuition. However, you can demonstrate to CBSA officer, that you have monetary instruments such as international mastercard, traveller's cheque etc. Importantly, if you're coming in with physical cash of 10,000 cad and above you must declare it.

1. To get the study permit the OP had to show at least $12K in available funds, so doesn't have to show any on arrival.
2. By the way, a credit card is NOT proof of funds.

By international mastercard, it doest mean credit card. It could be debit link to a bank account. How do you show available funds?

Did you pay full tuition and housing fee? living expenses: $10,000 (for you alone) if studying outside Quebec. You can prove your funds with: proof of a student or education loan from a bank, your bank statements for the past 4 months, a bank draft that can be converted to Canadian dollars, a letter from the person or school giving you money e.t.c

1. There is no way a CBSA officer at a POE is going to run around looking for a suitable ATM to determine if you card shows sufficient funds.
