Spousal Work Permit or TRV after marriage?

My fiance is in Canada on a study permit. He will be coming down to India (our home country) in the middle of his course to get married to me. His study permit will be valid for 5-6 months after the wedding, and he will be flying back to Canada to complete his course.

As for me, I am currently working in India. Have been working here for the past 4.5 years.

I understand I have two options after marriage:

SOWP

1. At what point after the marriage should I apply for a spousal work permit? Should I apply as soon as I get my marriage certificate? (PS: My fiance and I have been dating for a really long time, so we have enough proof to show that it isn't a marriage of convenience)
2. How much time does it take for spousal work permit. If it's up to 3 months, can I visit him in Canada on a travel visa during the waiting period?

Or should I just go to meet him on a travel visa, stay with him for a month, and apply for an SOWP later, once he transitions to his post graduate work permit? (We don't prefer this option because we don't want to stay away from each other for so long, as getting a PGWP + 3 payslips takes time)

Would wait until he gets PGWP and apply for SOWP. Getting a SOWP with such little time left in his studies may be difficult. You would then have to reapply for SOWP with PGWP after he has a skilled job and 3pay stubs. You could apply for a TRV soon and remain in Canada as a visitor but would recommend you continue working and saving for your future. It also looks better to show recent job when applying for a job in Canada.

If his study permit is valid for less than 6 months, you won't qualify for an OWP.

Depending on how strong your ties are you may or may not get the TRV. Would not make any plans until you know you can secure the TRV.

You need to show strong ties to your country to be approved.

It's somewhere on the website. It is a waste of resources to process a work permit app that is only going to be valid for a few months.

Hi, I have applied for study permit through SDS two days back. It may take minimum 1 month to get the approval. So what if I get married before leaving to canada and I want to take my spouse along with me? Do I have to resubmit a new application with updated passport details and all? please reply
