Medical Completed: November 21st, 2019
Request for Biometric: November 25th, 2019
Biometric Completed: December 10th, 2019
Request for Additional Documents: December 5th, 2019
Additional Documents Submitted: December 17th, 2019
File Transferred from CPCM to Local VO (NY): January 8th, 2020
Permanent Residence Application Status changed from In Process to Application Received: January 20th, 2020

Status of the application: “the background verification's are currently in process.”

Additional information to support the background check, such as a city and/or state level police clearance. I was mildly baffled as with the documents required in the initial package and the completed biometrics, I assumed they would have sufficient information to proceed accordingly.

My application status is changed from Application received to In process. Does any one have idea regarding it? There is no update in ECAS. But application was initially in process then updated to Application received now it is back to In process. Any idea regarding it?

I do not know for certain, but this sounds like 'ghost update.'

From a systems perspective, it seems that some actions/steps taken within IRCC result in these little changes to the status. While it's impossible to say exactly what they mean in each case, they seem to mean that there is some movement in the file. So things like the file being shipped to/reeived by visa office, someone receiving the file and beginning work on it, possibly transfer of file to another officer, etc - internal steps that result in 'flags' being changed in the tracking system they use.

Unfortunately the resulting ECAS status changes don't necessarily correspond to what applicans and sponsors are looking for, so we do not know precisely what they mean.

Probably positive - slightly - as it means something has happened to the file but no certainty.

Same here ...Do you see Line 2 added to ECAS saying "We started processing application on --------" Please share

Its AOR2 .. they do not send email for file receipt .. just Line 2 is added under Permanent Residence in ECAS
When did the status change back to IN PROCESS and when did they start processing.
Is it same date for both updates??

The status and the processing started at same day. After this how long will they take to process the application? any idea?
