Hi I have some questions about starting the process for inland application.

I reside in Ontario and my fiance is staying with me here from Mexico on visitor visa.

Her visitor status expires 18 feb 20 but we applied to extend her stay 6 months 23 dec 19.

My understanding is that once we are married we can start the spousal sponsorship. We are planning to get married in the next 3 weeks.

Are the timelines too tight?

Will she have to return to Mexico?

Should I consult a lawyer?

I am in the Hamilton area if anyone has any recommendations. I am extremely newbie and can really appreciate any help.

Best,

Logan
Have you two lived together for at least 1 year?

once you got the marriage certificate and some documents they need in the checklist, its okay to apply, it is like in my case i come here feb 2019 as tourist visa and we get married april 2019, after we got the marriage certificate we apply on paper last week of june they received july 09, I got my AOR september , then december they ask for proof of cahabitation ,( joint account , dental , phone bill, letters from friend that can testify were living together) and then january 24 i got may DM , and today i got my landing interview schedule this feb 4. To god be the glory, ! .

Sounds like every case is unique. Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing with me. Did you use lawyers or process it all yourself?

Inland application, and i just do it by myself through reading about spousal sponsorship in the cic website, its an Opw+pr application, the most important is you need to make your visa always extended for safety specially if you added opw application.

Yes we have already applied to extend her visitor visa because 6 months expires on 18 feb 20. We're only concerned that if we process the full PR application for SS with OWP her visitor status can expire before we have any tangible progress.

Owp will take max is 4 months make sure you pay the right amount $255 because that is the main reason of return., and that will gave you a status onces you got your owp, while waiting for PR

I rely on cic calculation summary, and they return it because of insufficient fund and that cause a lot of days wasted. Before you submit make sure all Signatures provided, just follow the basic guide and read it, it helps a lot,
