Mine says “we started processing your application on November 26, 2019.” Which is when I noticed the change in background check status on GCkey (I check it daily).
Meanwhile, the medical request was sent on November 22, 2019 (4 days before that).
Maybe other applicants can confirm their eCAS status?
Mine GCKey says my background is being processed but doesn't give any date. And ECAS doesn't say anything about background check at all. Weird

On the online tool I have 3 stages under my PA with the last being: “3. Medical results have been received.“

On my online account under background check it says: “We are processing your background check.“

I had a long wait for my medical, 4 weeks, in Nova Scotia so expecting to lag behind other June applications a bit.

But by being in Nova Scotia I was able to get provincial health insurance as soon as I applied for PR with no employment.

On mine there are only 2. I never linked to GCKey. On ECas on PR there are 2 lines. First being received and next being Medical results received. None regarding “we started processing your application” on PR application side. On SA there it is there. Now i dont know whether or not Background check has begun or not. But the medical results received is there since almost a month.

Hello Guys. My wife has got her PR Visa. She is now flying from Dhaka to Guanzu to Vancouver. Now I am not being able to accompany her. How can we be connected and communicate frequently?

If she can't manage to connect herself to airport (sometimes happens), then is there any way she can buy internet data, or what she can do to communicate with me frequently?

Thank you.

Whose ecas do you check, sponsor's or applicant's? To me, "We started processing your application" appeared in sponsor's ecas very early on the day when AOR was received.
So it seems there are two statuses that you can check; Sponsorship Application (SA) and Permanent Resident Application (PRA). All this time I thought ECAS only reports the results for all processes under one application!

To answer your question, I searched under the PRA. Here is what is listed when I query the PRA status:

Permanent Residence
  1. We received [NAME]'s application for permanent residence on June 28, 2019.
  2. We started processing [NAME]'s application on November 26, 2019.
  3. We sent [NAME] medical instructions on November 22, 2019. To avoid delays, please provide us with the information requested as soon as possible. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
  4. Medical results have been received.
Based on the above, I presume the background check started on November 26. FYI, here is what is reported when I query the SA Status:

Sponsorship
  1. We received your application to sponsor [NAME] on June 28, 2019.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on August 13, 2019.
  3. We started processing your application on August 12, 2019.
You are right, the above date (August 13) corresponds to the AOR.

Normally it is better to get an international calling card or SIM once you leave. Be rest asired there are many free wifis on airport. Even if she cant connect to one there are call booths snd even better there are some SIM dispensers just like cold drink dispensers on airport where you can get an instant sim with some 20-50 dollar prefilled to make a call. Although wifi will and is easiest option. Rest not be hesitant and ask any co passenger to
