pregnant after receiving COPR

Hi all I have an urgent query

We received our stamped passports and COPR on 30th of July 2019 and we must enter Canada before December 15th 2019

However, there have been some developments, I fell pregnant after receiving the COPR.

There are 3 options I have in hand:

1. Should I deliver baby outside canada, revoke COPR and provide details of the child after birth and wait for re issuance of COPR. How long will this take and is there an assurance that we will receive the COPR again? ( will it be a start from the scratch process all over again?)


2. Enter Canada. finish the landing work .. get back to home country deliver the baby and later on apply for sponsorship of the baby. ( is this feasible?)

3. Enter Canada and opt for delivering the baby in Canada. ( my choice of province is Ontario where it takes three months to receive health cover.. in the meantime how can I support myself for pregnancy monthly follow up check ups in Canada till then as I wont be covered under insurance)


We require some time to wind up things here in our home country before we move permanently to Canada. If I happen to choose option 3 and deliver the baby in Canada, Ontario ...can I return to my home country with baby as baby will be given Canadian passport immediately by birth...

I would appreciate if you could offer your guidance as we are confused as to how to go about further with regard to this.

Option 1 : It can take 6 months to 1 year to add your baby to your file.
Option 2 : Yes, feasible. Though, you will be PR's, it can take upto 1 year for IRCC to grant your baby PR, however, you will be able to apply for a TRV for your baby, and can move whenever you want to.
Option 3: Best option. However, you will need to make sure that you are able to meet medical expenses for 3 months, before you are able to get health coverage. Yes, your baby will be granted Canadian citizenship and can return with you, at a later stage.

1. Given your timing, probably not an option. It would appear that your child is due at least 4-5 months after COPR expiry, so there is little chance of IRCC extending that date.

2. You can do this. Note that one parent my be living in Canada throughout the entire sponsorship process and there is no guarantee that your child will be able to come to Canada during that time, so you may be separated.

3. Healthcare has residency requirements to prevent people from from doing exactly this, coming to Canada for a short time to use healthcare and then leaving. If you are not staying or if you cannot afford to pay for all medical expenses related to the birth and to any possible complications (which can run to a million dollars) yourself, don't give birth here.

I have read that TRV and TRP are rejected in most cases. I just want to know are there success rates for getting a TRV or TRP for a new born provided we show the intent to move quickly and immediately apply for the baby after birth ?

In which cases do they consider it?. I have come across people delaying their stay in the home country and then applying leisurely for TRV which is not taken rightly by the Canadian immigration .. am i right.. pls enlighten me.

a) If i go for option 3 ... as PR holders are there some centers that provide us medical services for subsidized rates?
since I am already pregnant I am not eligible for private insurance now..

b) about the sponsorship.. say my husband goes there.. should he be residing in a proper house of his own or can he still provide the home address of the relative he stays with ( sibling ) and should he have a valid job there or will our bank statements suffice?

b) He can live with a relative. He is not required to be employed as long as he can show he can support his family in Canada without welfare.
