This gets complicated because you aren’t biologically related to the child so this could be considered more like an international adoption. Would suggest speaking to a lawyer who specializes in international adoption as well as a lawyer who specializes in surrogacy issues. This is a fairly unusual situation when the child born from surrogacy will not be biologically related to both the Canadian citizen parents so will likely be tough to find many similar examples online.
