I have applied for my wife’s PR in June from Canada, and she is working in Bahrain. I came to visit her on a holiday and was thinking will it be fine if I stay back with her till her PR gets approved, which might take maximum 6 more months from this day? Will it have any detrimental effects on my status?.
Your prompt response will be appreciated.

Are you a PR or a Canadian citizen?

I am a permanent resident

You need to return to Canada. It is not fine to remain outside of Canada. One of the requirements to sponsor a spouse if you are a PR is that you be living in Canada. If you remain outside of Canada for six months the spousal sponsorship application will definitely be refused. I would recommend you keep your absence to three weeks or less.

Thanks a lot for your response. Really appreciate your feedback. God bless!

Around 3 months as I was here for a knee surgery.

You need to return to Canada asap. This is too long to be outside of Canada. You are in jeopardy of having your spousal sponsorship application refused.

Can’t I justify with medical records etc.?

No - you could have received medical treatment in Canada. A basic requirement for PRs to sponsor their spouses is that they be living in Canada. Again, recommend you return to Canada asap and then remain here until the application processing is completed and the application is approved. Given you've already spent three months outside of Canada, you want to avoid any further time outside of the country.
