I wasn’t sure where to post this so I hope this okay. I hope I can get some answers on the situation.

I live in Buffalo NY about 10 minutes from the Peace Bridge Canadian border. My girlfriend lives in St Catherines Ontario. We have been dating for about a year and we are thinking about getting a place here in Buffalo with her commuting back and forth for school and part time work. She is currently a full time student. So my question is...is this possible to do? Her live in Buffalo and commute to school and obviously to visit family and any other business she has to take care of. I hope I get some answers and we can go about doing this the right way if possible.

Thanks for your time.

Only if she has a visa to live in the US. Crossing the border daily is likely going to cause issues since it will be clear that she is not visiting the US and is actually living there. One day she will likely be denied entry. She could also be stopped at the border if she has all her possessions and is clearly moving unless she has a visa to live in the US.

Good to know. My next question would be then with a visa does it have to be consecutive 6 month stay? Or can she stay in US a month then head home and pick and choose the days instead of consecutive 6 months. Because if she did consecutive 6 months then she wouldn’t be able to come visit at all after that 6 months expired. Correct?
