Yh. My friend declared first semester since it was a one year program, a sponsor letter from his friend who was providing accommodation and a letter from is work indicating that he’s was approved study leave. His visa was approved but I’m wondering if CIC assumed he was gonna be paid on while on such leave. Idk puss and dog don’t have the same luck so I just have to trust God that it will work out in my favour
Does your employment letter say that you are on study leave or that they will welcome you back on your return?

Because mine says no such thing. It jus confims my position and salary.

@Jamaicangirl, sorry for the late response. No my letter doesn’t state that just employment confirmation. And no I haven’t received any correspondence as yet. I have strong faith that I will get through, however, this forum can cause anxiety. Lol

Lol, but honestly yesterday was busy that’s why I didn’t log on and i usually get email notifications when a direct message is sent to but for some reason I didn’t receive any yesterday. I am so mad that they are holding up your process. My gosh, please go to their office in person and see what happens

Thats the thing there is no office to go to but they reopen on monday so i will go there. Although there's no guarantee that i will get it that day. The Govt just messed up. All i want to do is submit! Its so frustrating.

You went to Duke Street? Don’t submit without it because it’s a requirement and you will get denied without it. Use this opportunity to cross your t’s and dot your i’s.

The Duke St. Office has been closed for 3 weeks now due to air quality . They have not been processing at all. And all the other branches have to send to Duke St. For processing so i have no alternative.

I have OCD and really bad anxiety so i wanted to submit in a timely manner. But I'll just continue to wait cuz i cant afford rejection over a stupid report. Will take your advice and ensure that everythibg else is good.

I heard if you’re submitting the application online, that the police record isn’t required, as people for their visas without submitting one. There isn’t even an option that says police report when you log in.

It is required. It is on the checklist for the specific visa instructions for Jamaica.
I saw that as well, it’s confusing. But people have gotten it without a police cert. a police certificate is mostly only necessary if you’re gonna be a permanent resident

Well i emailed the high commision of canada in ja re my issue and this was their response:

Please be advised that Study Permit (SP) applications are processed by the High Commission of Canada within a service standard of 8 weeks.

The circumstances in your email regarding the police certificate has been acknowledged. You may opt to obtain the police certificate before you submit your application or you may wish to submit your application and then wait until the police certificate is requested by our office and endeavor to obtain the police certificate during the 8 week processing time.

This means that they require it, so i can either wait until i get it or submit without and submit when they request it. Either way dem want it.
