PPR Timeline Question

Hi guys,

I wonder if you could provide some insight in how long after PPR would one receive the passport back from a VAC, assuming sending out the passport immediately after the PPR email. I'm asking because I'm currently under H1B working visa in the US, with an expiration date in December. There is a possibility that I might receive PPR before the H1B working visa expiration, but I don't want to risk having my passport stuck at a VAC, and not being able to leave the US in time in order to avoid overstaying.

If I get PPR at a really awkward time, which means I don't have enough time left to wait for the passport to come back in the US, should I just leave the US, go back to my home country, and mail my passport from my home country? If so, do you know how long do I have after PPR to send in my passport?
