Additional Verifications - What does that mean Please?

No FSW-O. Just crossed 6 months and I received this response today

Your file is currently under review and requires additional verifications. As a result, the assessment period will be outside of our posted processing times.

When I called agent she said security not started, criminality passed and eligibility in progress. Really confused

As far as I know, federal skilled workers processing time is 6 months. You should expect up to 6 months delay

I am so confused as to what's happening.. ordered GCMS notes and got the notes in August but notes section looked fine. My AOR is 18th Feb 2019. Any idea what does "additional verifications" mean!

I can sum up couple of conclusions of this. Firstly, it’s there standard reply, which means security screening, secondly, it could be additional verification, cause it mentions the time may be beyond the standard 6 months. I got the same reply, I’m trying to be optimistic, hopefully, it’s standard part of process.

Thanks for the reply. Notes I received on Aug 21st showed no movement after April when the agent noted all well. Heard security screening is a longggg process? What's your status, PPR/no communication?

It probably means, it needs to be reviewed by an Immigration Officer.

Called IRCC again this evening, the agent said same as last time. My file is at Ottawa and background checks are in progress. What does it mean? Is comprehensive security screening part of background checks? Appreciate a reply, thanks!
