Hello..
My dad is here for almost 6 months (from Israel), I know that typically most people are asking in the applications to extend in 6 more months, But is it ok to ask for more? Let’s say a year.. Are the chances good ?

Thanks guys

You can certainly ask. One of three things will happen

1. They will reject the extension entirely
2. They'll approve it for a year
3. They'll approve it for a shorter duration

Assume you have looked at the super visa option given extensions only work for a while given the super visa option is preferred for parents/grandparents.

The father would have to return home for a super visa.

I see.. is it risky to ask for a longer period like a year?

visitor visa is for just visiting, so if asking for a longer term they could assume your father is living here or wants to live here.
