How long is the wait after submitting the biometrics?

Hi all,

I got an ITA and submitted my online application through the GCKey account on 4th March 2019. After waiting for over 6 weeks, I got the biometrics letter and I gave my biometrics on 2nd May 2019. Based on some personal experience blogs, forum posts, etc.. I have read that the average processing time for the application is 3 months from the date of the online submission. I have some travel plans in the upcoming months and hence, I'm a bit worried about when the message to get the COPR would arrive in my inbox. Based on your experiences, can you please tell me - should I be expecting something by the end of June(fingers crossed) or is it more likely to get it closer to the end of 6 months i.e. 4th Sept. 2019 (as my login screen on GCKey account shows)?

Please help.

Three months is very optimistic. The timeline on your account, while it is just an average estimate of how long applications will take, is more likely to be closer to the truth but your application could be longer or faster than that timeline would have you believe.

Another one then (so I can manage my travel plans better) - once a person gets a COPR, do they have to land in Canada by an expiry date given on the COPR or is it one year from the date of the medical exam that they gave for their application (which in my case will be the end of Feb 2020)? There are lot of conflicting answers around this so please help, thanks again :)

The expiry date of your COPR is generally the expiry date of your medicals.

Hi both,

I just saw this thread again. I'm still waiting for the decision. I have heard absolutely nothing since my biometrics but my deadline is 4th Sep. As soon as I hear something back, I'll post on this thread.

It is difficult to predict. IRCC works in unpredictable pattern. There is no such defined pattern.

Better to call the agent and get details on your eligibility criminality and security. Once all they passed and medical/biometrics are done, it is likely that you get PR in a month or two.

Furthermore, IRCC PR processing timeline is no more "maximum 6 months". It is now "minimum 6 months". So it is highly possible that you might not hear something concrete before 4 th sept.

I've done it all myself online, there's no agent involved. I'm going to contact them on 5th Sep if i don't hear back in the next couple of weeks. Their website says, they will not answer queries that are asked before the end of the estimated processing time. Fingers crossed it won't have to get to the stage of me questioning them!
