Hi, I am an student, and my paper has been selected for presentation at a prestigious conference in Canada. I applied for TRV. Since I have a valid US visa, I was asked only to upload passport, US visa. I uploaded my invitation letter for presentation under optional documents(LOE). Thus, I haven't uploaded any financial documents. Will this affect my application? Should I wait, or is there a way I can submit these documents now.

I think better to upload financial documents. IRCC also need to check if the applicant is financially capable of travelling. But it seems that you applied via paper and went for the CAN+ program. This is applicable to applicants who travelled to Canada for the last 10 years or for applicants who have a US visa. They say that you don't need the financial documents that is why they didn't ask for it.

You can link your application online so you can check your status. You can use the webform to upload document for your application as well http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp.

Hi, i applied online, and that is the reason I did not upload financial documents as there was no option to upload them in the portal. I shall submit them via web form as you suggested. Will submitting by webform surely add the documents to my application and be considered. Is there a chance that ircc will ask for them additionally, considering it wasnt asked in the online uploading portal. (The online application asked questions regarding US visa, and then the portal to submit documents is provided). Can they reject an application for not providing a document they didn't ask for?

One of the purpose of the web form is to update or give more information about an application. I think IRCC will email you if they require additional steps like a medical exam or an interview but I'm not sure about documents. You see on online when you click the question mark (?) icon per category it already indicates which documents to include.

I wonder did you not see the Proof of Means category? As it asks the following bellow (basically the financial documents)
· Your bank statements for the past four months
· A bank draft convertible currency
· Pay stubs
· An employment letter
· Proof of assets or business
· Proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees
· Tax report, declarations or statement
· Proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution
· A letter from the person or institution providing you money
· Proof of funding paid within Canada. If you have a scholarship in a Canadian-funded educational program
· Proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has transferred to Canada

Please provide as many as you can. When you upload to the web form.

The financial assets are part of the ties they check. I thought that you applied for Can+ so I was surprised when you said you applied online.

Ok. Honestly I am really confused. Because for me, under documents to be submitted(I did check the question mark icon), there were only 3 categories. Passport, Travel history, and proof of US visa. I asked this because my friend, who doesnt have a US visa, he had the categories you have mentioned.

I have a US visa and been to Canada 3 times. I applied online last April (2019), the proof of means appeared.
I guess the category depends on how you answer the eligibility questions.

Yes! That is probably right, after my friend answered that he did not have a valid US visa, he had to answer many more questions regarding who was financially supporting his trip...etc, but it did not ask me any questions of the kind.
Is there a chance of a technical issue and the category did not appear for me?
One cannot submit application and pay the fees until uploading documents regarding all the categories requested right.
