hello good job here.. i do really appreciate the kind gesture here. I would like to know if its advisable and chances to obtain a study permit if I am to apply for diploma course in Canada after I have already finished with my master degree in Nigeria?

I will not advise that, the VO will not grant you a permit if he is aware that you already have a masters degree. If you are thinking you should not disclose this info, please don't try that, that is why they do all their background checks. Honesty is always the best policy.

Hello, I am Tolu from Nigeria. I will like to find out if I can apply for study permit with my family. Although my husband won't be staying so it's going to be a visiting visa for them. Is it advisable to do that or should I just apply alone for now. Also since my husband is my sponsor, we are going to be including an educational loan we got along with our other assets, pension and investment. My question now is should the money be in my account or my husband's account.

Thanks for visiting this thread. Please do not apply with your family. If you can, do not mention the loan, it is not the business of the VO, just show you have the money to pay for your tuition. When you get your permit, then you can apply for other family members.

You need to do the following

1. Apply for the CAIPS/GCMS notes, it will clarify the reasoning behind the VO's decision.

2. Re-apply and address all the issues raised in the refusal letter and the caips/gcms notes.

There's no limit to the words or lines or paragraphs or pages, just keep it simple and straight to the point and make sure all points are explained well.

- Introducing yourself
- Why this programme (maybe areas of study)
- What it would offer you (maybe co-op opportunity, technical skills)
- Why Canada? [what you'd bring to Canada (your Nigerian university knowledge and experience because Canny is multi-cultural)]
- Upon completion, what next? [talk about how your programme is profitable(is there a demand?)]
- Establish strong home ties (talk about your sponsor ...let's say your dad. Let it cover why he's sponsoring you,
no one cares what he does in your SOP, he's not an applicant.)
- Conclusion (link the reason you're being sponsored to why your course is relevant and profitable and end it on a strong note)


*If you had a good BSc grade and you're going for PGD, explain the reason(s) after you talk about your intended programme. Normally, as a genuine student, you should go for MSc not PGD.

Many thanks to @BHA@1234 for your assistance. Prisca with regards to the lump sum in your dad's account you have to truth fully explain the source. 1. Is it truly your Father's money, if it is then explaining how the money got there should not be a problem. It could be from his salary or his business interests, inheritance, or business transaction such as a sale of a property etc. But if the funds belong to your dad truly, explaining its source should not be a problem.

Also the SOP is not the place to explain the source of funding for your studies, the proof of financial support is the place to explain source of income. Your father will have to explain what he does for a living and show proof of the income generated.

I am sorry to hear about the refusal of your application. It is my assumption that you put all these info in your initial application if yes, I am sorry to say there is nothing much I can do at this point. Please try to refer to my post on self assessment for study permit. Your profile is very high risk and you are unlikely to get a study permit approved.

1. Age: I cannot mention it enough on this thread. Age is a big factor in determining who gets visa approval. If at 40 you were applying for a PhD, your chances would have been much better, but for a graduate certificate, the chances are much slimmer.

2. Academic Progression: You already have a Masters degree in Economics and now you want to pursue a graduate certificate. The VO will not see any academic progression here and unfortunately would not be convinced that your sole purpose is for study.

3. Pension funds are not easily accessible as you may already know, until retirement age of 60 or 65. So the VO knows this. The VO is wondering that after 13 years of full time work experience why would you want to go and study for a graduate certificate degree regardless of its relevant to your current or past work experience.

I would suggest you order for your CAIPS/GCMS notes to see specifically the issues raised against your profile and try to address them accurately. I would also say you should try get into a PhD program, that will give you a better chance. Finally, the socio-economic climate in Nigeria now is very unstable, the growing political tension in the country is at dangerous and alarming levels. 3 of my clients were at VFS Lekki yesterday, and they spent the whole day there, because of the multitude of people who are applying to escape the country. This can only lead to one thing, increased percentages of visa rejections. The VOs are all aware of this, so any application that looks suspicious would be immediately stepped down.

They got my GCMS notes yesterday and they have asked me for some info (CV, last degree, copy of my previous SOP/study plan, post study career plan, etc) to help me prepare a convincing SOP & LOE..

I read the V.O's note on page 45 of the GCMS, it was brief and his concern was my "vague study plan which was poorly documented." I thought his concern was my age or why am I doing a certificate after having a Masters degree?

Does this mean if me and caipsgcms give him a detailed and well-documented study plan i have a chance? Cos no other reason was given.

Also how high is the success rate on reapplying through caipsgcms???

Concerning proof of financial support.

My tuition fee is CAD6300 and living expenses is CAD10000. Total is CAD16300

My immediate elder sister is willing to give me CAD10,000 and my my uncle is willing to give another CAD10000 making CAD20,000

Please which documents do I need need to provide to prove they are my sponsors

Do I need to provide my own bank statements when I make available my sister and uncle statements of account

Have also being issued a conditional employment that would be valid after the completion of my program in Canada and I can provide a certificate to provide that

Should I include my conditional employment in my statement of purpose
