Hi

Hi Brian,

Mine took quite long too. I will advice you write again using the appropriate web form. If they say they are still working on it then they are really. Sometimes it takes forever with the Canadian embassy but when they come through, they actually do. Mine took like 2months after I had surpassed the initial deadline and yet they kept assuring me that they are working on it. Until i finally got my visa. In all it took me 4months. I'm a stickler for pressing on, until you get what you want. Especially when you have done what you need to do.
Thank you very much I used webform about 10 Days ago and I was told they are still working on it I will send another next week

If you did not declare the refusal, that will have a negative impact. It is misrepresentation.
I had already applied and submitted all the documents needed for my Canadian visa before applying for the US visa.
I only applied for the US visa so that I could send it to the Canadian embassy so that they'll speed up my application

Hello russ6970,

You cannot say it is misrepresentation. He said he had put his study permit application before applying for the US visa.. So he could not declare it if he had not applied prior to applying for his study permit.

Cheers.

Exactly my point thank you

My name is ope, I applied for a postgraduate program in Canada,

Concerning proof of financial support.

My tuition fee is CAD6300 and living expenses is CAD10000. Total is CAD16300

My immediate elder sister is willing to give me CAD10,000 and my my uncle is willing to give another CAD10000 making CAD20,000

Please which documents do I need need to provide to prove they are my sponsors

Do I need to provide my own bank statements when I make available my sister and uncle statements of account

Have also being issued a conditional employment that would be valid after the completion of my program in Canada and I can provide a certificate to provide that

Should I include my conditional employment in my statement of purpose

Greetings!

If you are interested in hearing the truth, and still ready to proceed despite the challenges, you are welcome here. If you want to be pampered, please go elsewhere.

I am here offer advise to anyone who is Nigerian and needs assistance in navigating the dangerous waters of Canadian study permit application. Identify what the problem might be and how to possibly over come them.

It would be better to come here before you apply, rather than after you have applied, it might be too late to assist you then. Also, never rush to put in an application, if you are rejected once, your chances of being rejected a second time increases by about 60-70%.

Looking forward to assisting anyone with question here.

You are welcome.

Cheers
Hello Omofar,

Good job you’re doing.
I am yet to apply for my study permit as I am still waiting to get my LOA from my DLI, however, I have some questions

1. I am getting my uncle-in Law’s statement of account as he’s going to be my major sponsor alongside my husband. The challenge here is he resides in the US.
Will that fly?

2. I have been assured of job placement upon the completion of my studies. Will I be need to attach that letter?

3. I only traveled once to the US for a training that lasted 4months(I dread air travels) Is this enough as travel history?

4. Will it be wise for me to apply for my dependents (2kids + husband) as I intend to have them with me during my period of study?

5. I am 31 in few months, had a second class Upper in Microbiology from one of the top universities here in Nigeria in 2011. I have been working since after service. Does my age pose a threat?

Much thanks in anticipation of your response.

Hello Omofar,

Hello Mhonil,

Thanks for visiting this thread. I sincerely apologize for just responding, I hope it is not too late. I also thank you for your compliments and will do my utmost to assist you the best way I can.

1. I am getting my uncle-in Law’s statement of account as he’s going to be my major sponsor alongside my husband. The challenge here is he resides in the US.
Will that fly?
With respect to sponsorship, you want to try to demonstrate as much as possible to the VO that you have funds readily available in Nigeria to support your studies. I am guessing you have already received your LOA. So a few things to consider, have you paid any of your tuition at all, if not, then ask your uncle in-law to pay for at least the first year of study. Once that is done, you will get an official receipt from the school, and that will show commitment. If you uncle in-law has assisted with that already, all you need to show in your husband's Naira account is the amount you need for upkeep for at least a year. That is a minimum of about 12,000CAD (just to be on a safe side). Then you husband will provide letter of udertaking to support your studies while you in Canada, and I think with that you should be fine. Do not give the VO any hint that you are depending on someone in the US for your sponsorship.

2. I have been assured of job placement upon the completion of my studies. Will I be need to attach that letter?
Who has assured you of this job placement on completion of your studies, your current organisation, if yes, kindly include the letter. This is a good motivation to the VO that you have interest in returning to Nigeria on completion of your studies.

3. I only traveled once to the US for a training that lasted 4months(I dread air travels) Is this enough as travel history?
This is good for your travel history. Well done!

4. Will it be wise for me to apply for my dependents (2kids + husband) as I intend to have them with me during my period of study?
No. Remember you already show an intention to return to your home country based on the letter assuring you of a position when you get back, if that is the case, the VO would be wondering why does she want to take her family with her. That is contradicting yourself and enough grounds to show dual intent and hence refusal of your application. As a matter of fact your husband and kids staying behind shows strong family ties that will motivate you to return on completion of your studies. In summary it is best you get your permit first, before applying for them.

5. I am 31 in few months, had a second class Upper in Microbiology from one of the top universities here in Nigeria in 2011. I have been working since after service. Does my age pose a threat?

In your case your age does not matter, you have a good qualification, you have been working and gaining experience since graduation. Your profile looks very promising , all you need is to settle down, think through and put in your application properly, you should get your visa. However, if you need assistance, please PM me.

Please let us know how it goes.

All the best.

Cheers

Hello Opeyemi,

Thanks for visiting.

The first thing I would suggest to you is to check your LOA again and be sure of your tution. If yuo are an international student, and applying for postgraduate studies in Canada, you are unlikely to get that kind of tuition rate, except Memorial University. You did not mention if it is a post-gradaute certificate or Masters degree.

Once you have confirmed the cost of attendance, I would then suggest you make payment for a semester, better still a year. Get the official receipt and present it during your application. What is left is for you to show the remaining funds in your upkeep which should be kept in your sponsor's account that is based in Nigeria.

I am not clear about the job offer you are referring to, kindly clarify on this area so I can assist.

If you need personal assistance with the permit application, kindly PM me.

Wishing you all the best.

Cheers

Hello omofar,
I have similar case as regards taking my 3 kids with me. I applied for masters in business administration @uni Saskatchewan fall 2019. Am yet to get loa.
I graduated 2008 with a BSc in geography and meteorology. I am 34yrs old with 6 yrs+ work exp as an administrative officer . My husband is working in a reputable company here in Nigeria and doesn't intend to resign. He also has his own company which is the main reason am upgrading myself so we can both run it together and it's registered here in Nigeria. I intend to include my hubby and kids in my visa application cos we will go together but my husband will return back to his work in Nigeria and will only come visit us on his time off at work.
Isn't this reason strong enough to convince an officer that I will return after my studies ??

Hello lmally,

Thank you for visiting this thread.

I sincerely hope you get a LOA from Sakatchewan, they are quite selective. Also since you graduated in 2008, that might be a problem. Most Canadian Universities do not accept if your last qualification was more than 5 years ago. Even if you get the LOA, the VO may still hold this sentiment.

If you do get the LOA, do not apply for a permit with all your family. I will suggest you get yours first, and then apply for your kids as dependents.

Finally, looking at your situation, I would honestly suggest you register for an MBA with LBS (Lagos Business School) and make strong networks there and help your husband build his business. Canada is not a bed of roses, if you guys are okay in Nigeria, then just chill and enjoy.

You can always go for holidays, or start working towards saving for your children's schooling in Canada.

All the best.
