Let me tell you a sad story. We started this journey in September 2017 when my wife and I did IELTS and got most of the documents required to apply. I didn’t get the right score so I waited until February 2018 and gave it another chance with great score for a CRS of 438 (1 year of foreign experience even though I had more, didn’t want to show my other jobs whatsoever). If I had shown my other experience I would have got 463 at that time. We didn’t do it because we didn’t have the whole amount of money so I just waited for the right time. The thing is that I waited too long knowing that I had the chance to get into the pool since 2018 and lost it. Now that I’ve lost 10 points of birthdays I am including my other experience for a score of 453. Seeing the pool I gave IELTS another try (max out I could be at 462) and it wasn’t good so I don’t know if I want to do that again. I just wanted to let off steam, knowing that this won’t be the year (again) and probably I have to wait until late January to see if the score drops to 453. :(

This current Immigration system is the best in the world and still gets better and more competitive every year.

The requirements are becoming more stringent every year as CIC is starting to know how to get the best economic migrants out there.

This plan was structured by conservatives before the Trudeau government. I talked with a lot of conservative Canadians here and their main issue with Immigration are the people who do not contribute to the economy but rather take advantage of it.
This will stay true even after the elections, especially for conservatives who will hold office as those officials tend to be more educated and non-xenophobic.

Conservatives will not shut down the EE system if they get elected, but instead will ensure that the score remains high which will lead to better, more qualified, and English proficient migrants.

The main goal of EE, when introduced, was to get to the stage it is now.. not to remain in the beta stage that it was for the past years.

Just my 2 cents.

Either way the 455 - 459 lot is sacked. 460 and above is the way to go probably.

I'm sorry, but I strongly disagree. If that was the criteria, they wouldn't cut so many points every year after a certain age of 33. People are becoming highly professional around this age.

I am so sad right now, got all the documents ready and apparently for nothing. Considering to take a French exam, but somehow I am getting desperate. 4 attempts of IELTS to boost this score. Jeez, why it is so complicated. I feel like I am playing a crazy quest for 2 years.

You have it all wrong. Age is a major factor that affects how a person integrates in a new country.

If you are at 33 years old, you're chances of integrating properly and learning the language are much much lower than a 25 year old.
Also, If you're coming from a non English speaking country, then you are not qualified as a professional in Canada unless your English is immaculate. That's why having a masters or a PhD technically cancels out all the points you lose for being 33 years of age. It shows that you actually became a "Professional"

People who come from countries where they were extremely qualified tend to suffer here to get even beginner positions because they can't communicate in English.

Age is very relevant and the way it is incorporated into the immigration system is perfect right now. They don't want older married people who have a partner who is even less qualified to integrate into Canada than the applicant . A 25 year old person is very likely to be a single person who will end up with a Canadian citizen.

You simply disagree because it is not made for you and you feel cheated. However, for the benefit of Canada as a nation, this strategy is the best.

It's all about integration into the culture.
