Personally, I would order GCMS notes every 2-3 weeks or a few days after responses to any correspondence with CIC
Yeah I was considering ordering the notes again. I am hoping there has been some movement in my profile in the last 1.5 months.

F. Why do BGC takes so long for some applicants?

If your application is stuck in the BGC and your GCMS notes show that everything else has been completed, then it could be wither of the two scenarios:

a) The application is stuck with CSIS. CSIS may be conducting an in-depth investigation into your file. This could be a result of your past military service, extensive travel to suspicious countries, known political or governmental affiliation. Sometimes it could be as remote as the company you worked for is under investigation by a law enforcement agency of a foreign country. Only since you were an employee, and not named in the investigation, CSIS will take its time to probe the issue before it gives its conclusive report.

b) The CSIS report is awaiting final review from IRCC: In most cases the delay is at this stage. CSIS after filing its report, the IRCC has to make a final review and a determination. When CSIS flags a few things, CSIS does not recommend that the application be cancelled, but it is on the IRCC to determine if based on the CSIS report an applicant would be inadmissible in accordance with IRPA. Most applications are held up here. This is because the IRCC will send that report to officials specifically trained to look into the inadmissibility issues based on security and they will make a final determination, which will then be approved by an agent.

G. What can an applicant do if his application is stuck at BGC?

If an application is stuck at BGC for a very long time, i.e. more than 3-5 months after your eligibility is cleared you have two options:

a) You can inquire about the status of your security check directly from CSIS. To enquire about the status of a an immigration screening file, the following information is required*:

a. a full name,
b. date and place of birth,
c. the signature of the applicant, and
d. a return mailing address as replies are not sent by email or fax.
e. If you are enquiring on behalf of another person, the request must be accompanied by the Consent Form to Disclose Information to a Designated Individual.
f. Mail or fax the request to CSIS at the attention of:
Assistant Director, Operations
Canadian Security Intelligence Service
P.O. Box 9732, Station T
Ottawa, ON
K1G 4G4
Fax: 613-369-2954
It takes CSIS 8 weeks to process these requests. Information on this is available at https://www.csis.gc.ca/scrtscrnng/index-en.php#bm02 Some applicants have successfully obtained information from CSIS.
b) If CSIS has finished the security screening, then your file is pending final review with IRCC. There is nothing much you can do at this stage. However, there is anecdotal evident that ordering GCMS notes does initiate the process. This is because every time you order GCMS notes, an agent will review the notes before releasing them. If the file has been reviewed by the Agent, and is pending posting the update on the system, the same will be done by the agent when he is reviewing the notes and this will move your file ahead.
Thanks for acknowledging!

Hi guys!

I applied through an agent and got aor Jan 10. Been over 6 month benchmark for a while and feel stressed : (

My agent sent me a screenshot of the online account:
eligibility under review,
med passed Feb 18,
don't need addition documents or interview or biometrics,
background check in progress,
final decision "your application is in progress"

Anyone know how to interpret this status? I kept asking my agent and she said it's all slow...Should I call the call center? What's the number?

I have recently raised a query through webform. How long does it take get a reply from them. I have touched my 6 month mark on July 27 and having anxiety attack!
They responded to me twice on the fifth working day.

9 months completed here and it's normal.

No I don't have Review Required or Security Screening. Just pure laziness of the case officers :)

My case was put in queue for final review on May 9th. Almost completing 3 months since :)

A couple of months ago even I was very frustrated but now I have made peace with it.
Just read your post on another thread, very valuable. I also heard there's a peak in late 2018/early 2019 so the average processing time in the past is no longer helpful. The score of draws is sky high now cuz my friend has been waiting for an invitation. Pray for those in stage 1. I'd comfort my anxiety by thinking this is stage 2 - the last step!

Amazing read !!
Ok guys, so I'm in Canada, it's been a couple of years. Indian National , applied as FSW from Dubai. Have strong connections in Ottawa VO. (I'm sure Saurabh is reading this and knows who I am)

Their VO has inducted new COs lately. Handovers have been done and new guys have taken over the open cases. However, even though the cases were halfway thru by the previous CO, when the new CO gets a file, he's responsible for finally approving it. Hence he needs to check the previous half of the files again. Don't worry, he just verifies the supporting documents (that the previous CO attached to your file before approving a particular stage) and does not start the investigation all over again. If you look at year on year increase in the number of invitations, you will realize it's over 5%, but they had not added more COs.

If there isn't a negative communication on your application, there's nothing to worry about.

Patience, breathing, yoga, meditation is needed :)

Once you're here, life's tough. No maids, no-one to wash your car, no-one to cook and clean. And whenever you see airplanes, you think of your home country, your parents, siblings, friends. So enjoy all that while you can. Finding a job is tough. You might have to start from scratch so be prepared. Eventually its all super good. You love this country and you love how safe and secure you are. Education, health, old age, etc is taken care of. Better air quality, better standard of living etc. But as I said earlier, enjoy your home right now, company of your parents etc. Food, go for massages, get dental check ups, before you get your PPR.

All the best! I talk too much sometimes :)

I only got this information when I emailed Ralph's office. I called CIC the same day and they said eligibility 'in progress' and nothing new is required from me. Yet, I submitted the updated docs (that I had doubts about) just in case. 8 days after the email mentioning they received my webform, they sent another email about my case being 'in queue for review by an officer'. I haven't emailed Ralph again or even received my first set of GCMS notes.. Completely in the unknown here so waiting patiently
You have done the best and honestly everything you could. I am sure you will get you PPR email soon bro :)

Hello lovely people . Just talked to an agent . He was very gentle. As a general conversation I asked he is having long weekend and holiday on Mona but he said this holiday not for them and he has to go on work ( strange) . He told that all is well with my application.. he sees no notes attached ( no idea what it means ) and will get some updation in coming few weeks . I asked him to send reminder he said he can’t as he has to follow procedure and can’t do now( no idea again what it means )and will get updates soon . Asked to call again if no updates come in few weeks ..It’s all generic but got bit relieved . He said he knows how hard it is to wait and asked to be patient.
Strangely, many of us have got the same updates .. in my case, after my GUs when I had called, I was told my eligibility is recommended pass and also that this is BGC is yet to start. She told me there is nothing else needed and by end of August if I don’t hear from them, to call back .. so I plan to do that. No point in calling again and again .. being patient and busy in my own life is so great, the waiting doesn’t pinch me anymore
