Is there any one from Nigeria that have applied for visa and got approve within a month ????
Yes I applied on the 22nd of june and the requested for my passport on the 11th of july. Just to be sure if they request for my passport does it mean they're going to give me the visa and how long does it take for them to return the passport?

i just pray we all get our visas, i have been a ghost reader but i decided to ask today. i applied may 24th and i did bio-metrics by 27. am from Nigeria, 21 years, just finished nysc, working in a company with base salary of 80k and applied using my father as sponsor, applied for post grad cert in Gis at fanshawe and i studied geology, already paid first semester tuition, and the account my father budgeted for my tuition has 6m inside that is second semester tuition plus cost of living, flight ticket too and extra 8 hundred k, i made sure he put in the sponsor letter that he will make sure i return to Nigeria to take care of asset which we attached all the documents and family which i also did on my SOP. the issue is that i wrote on my sop that i will return back to Nigeria to continue working and also set up side company so as to develop nigeria blah blah stuff but i didn't attach my employment letter and study leave from company. will i have a problem?
I was also initially reading without replying to a post, but having read questions from a whole lot of people here and the incredibly useful answers provided by respondents, not the least of which come from Omofar, I thought it wise to respond to this and to give general advice to whoever is interested.

Specifically addressing your immediately above questions, I would say it is a grave error not to include your letter of employment, letter approving your study leave and a letter of reference from your employer or supervisor or HR confirming your position, that you work with the organization and that you have requested a study leave to study in Canada, stating that you have indicated that you would return to your job after studies. This letter must be on company letterhead with address, email address and company phone numbers. This letter of reference is indispensable to your success, whether ot not your father is the one sponsoring your studies, these letters must be there.

If you applied online, or you have linked your paper application to an online account, please upload these documents I mentioned to update your application. I speak from experience, having gone through this process 6 years ago and living in Canada since then.

If you applied online, and they have now requested the original of your passport, you have a 95% chance of being given a visa. That is always the case. It's a different thing if you applied on paper, as your application must be accompanied by the original of your passport. The time it takes to return your passport is not certain; it could take between 1 to 5 weeks, especially if yours is being processed at the London office. They are somewhat uncourteous in London; "I don't care" attitude is out there. Perhaps they are short-staffed and overworked.

Hi everyone, please I would like to know if I can do my medicals for my study permit application upfront. I've already done my biometrics and I would like to know if I can do my medicals to speed up time.
Yes, it is in fact advisable to do that if you are pressed for time. It is allowed under IRCC rules.

I'll be 24 by September, Since I Had my Bsc Degree in 2014..I did my NYSC from 2015 to 2016...since then I've been working as an Assistant Store Manager, my Sponsors are my Mother(A Police Inspector earning #200,000 monthly) and my Uncle(Owns a Big Primary and a Secondary School Registered by the Government) Besides will I need to evaluate my certificates with wes?
The 5 year thing is not a major issue to me, if you have been employed since, especially if it is in a relevant field. I got admitted to a top university in Canada after 6 years from graduation. But i was practising my profession for those 6 years.

What everyone should know is that there are hundreds of post-secondary institutions in Canada to apply to. But what I see as the problem with most Nigerians is that we have this mentality of desiring to attend the best university in Canada, but we don't think of the fees required by those schools. There is nothing like getting a better job because you attended the highest-ranked university in Canada. What the employers consider is your grade based on your transcripts, not your certificate (as we are used to in Nigeria). So, you can make a 2.1 and not have good grades in your key area subjects. Then you are not better than an applicant with a poor grade.

On a general note, if your intention is to stay back after studies, apply to schools you can afford and think less about university/school ranking, provided they are accredited and are publicly-funded schools that will give you a post-graduation work permit after studies. You can attend the expensive schools later when you start earning Canadian income. You apply to the very expensive schools, chances are that you would not meet the income requirement according to the rules. This is the truth that the Indian students in Canada have long discovered. That is why they are more successful when it comes to international student applications for study permits. Best of luck to all of you!

Hello Emmanuel Arinze,

I am sorry to hear about the unfortunate news about the refusal of your application. You must demonstrate that there is an strong incentive to bring you back to Nigeria

1. Job:- Are you currently working, if no, that is a problem. If you are working, what is your salary like, if it is too low that is also a problem. Is your boss willing to take you back, how is the industry in your field, is there growth potential or its reached a plato? Is there potential for you to start your own business, if yes, who will fund the project?

2. Family:- How old are you, if your age range is far from the qualification level you are pursuing that can be a problem, are you married, do you have kids, if yes, you can show that you have to come back and be with your family etc

3. Travel History:- If you don't have one and you are high risk applicant meaning you a Nigerian, over-aged, low job potential upon return to Nigeria, and no travel history, you are unlikely to be able to resolve this issue.

Please do not rush to re-apply consider all these items, and see how you can elaborate on them in your SOP, it must be compelling enough to the VO.

All the best.
