Does the letter of employment have to be submitted in a sealed envelope by the company?

Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but I requested an employment letter as per the criteria required by CiC, but my ex-employer gave it to me in a sealed envelope.
I want to check if everything I requested is there, but I'm worried that if I open the letter to check on it, and submit it without or with an opened envelope it would cause issues or raise redflags with the Canadian visa office.

Has anyone submitted a reference letter without a sealed envelope? If so, how did it go?
