Purpose of travel has to strong to not face a refusal;

Prepare a day by day itinerary for the time you intend to travel. Reserve flight tickets (where you will not be charged until few days before the date of travel, so would have an option to cancel). Include a cover letter (in client info) with your intent to travel to meet you friend, explore canada and return to resume you job/work.

Purpose of travel is just one aspect. Other things that might result in a refusal are, but not limited to;

Home/family ties (job, house, family you are leaving behind etc)
Financial Support
Immigration status in country of residence
