How long to get PR?

hello people
Just would like to know wether other people are in the same situation. We are a family of 4 from the UK and we applied for the PR in September 2018 and after 8 months still no news. We have a Canadian lawyer who is helping us but there is no way to know how much longer we need to wait? There is anything else we can do on our side to do?

Which program? There are a number of different fedral programs. Express Entry? Something else?

EDIT: I see by your other response it was the Express Entry program. In that case your processing times are pretty normal. It can take anywhere from six months to over a year. Nothing you can do to speed up the process.

Your lawyer is wrong. Some cases are processed under six months but it's not at all unusual for processing to take longer.

Yes, in some cases it can. Someone from July 2018 is sitting. What is the last update on your notes or via call?

Everything has been checked except the last step which is the background check. And it is like that since last December. We had an update early April and it was the same as December
