Hello guys are there any people whose applications have recently been transfered to Pretora Office? We applied for spouse sponsorship via Sydney Office in Nova scotia and the process was moving pretty fast up until our application got transfered to Pretoria. Now its so quiet and we havent had any updates since, how slow is this office really?

Hi, thought I'd share my timeline (we are both in South Africa) for our common-law sponsorship.

FYI: So far my experience with the Pretoria VO is that they are very fast and reliable. I am really impressed.

App sent to Sydney: 11 September 2018
AOR 1: 17 December 2018
Sponsor approval: 10 January 2019
AOR 2: 21 January 2019 (at Pretria VO)
Meds request: 27 February 2019
Meds passed: 05 March 2019
PPR, pre-arrival and DM made: 28 March 2019
COPR: Waiting

They took roughly 2 months to make their decision since AOR 2. Excellent! Now just waiting and hoping that I get COPR before end of April so that I can resign and get on a plane :D

This office is quick. I got AOR 2 in January and DM last week. Depends on how many different places applicant has visited, personal history etc. as this all increases the time of the background check and it is not in the office's control.

You can expect passport request roughly at the end of April if all goes well. They take about one month between medicals passed and PPR. I will update here once I receive my passport back, as far as I understand that is the last step. Then I just need to land in June and sign the COPR.

I also got AOR2 on March 22 and haven't heard from them since. I'm applying for my husband (PA) who is in Zimbabwe while I am on Canada. Maybe its a bit slow for applicants in Zim.

Wow I'm so happy for you. Hopefully we will get medical request soon. We received AOR2 on March 22 and still haven't heard from them. I guess it makes sense that sometimes it is not in the office's control since the PA in my case is from Zimbabwe and not S.A.

Hi. If you received AOR in March 22 you wont hear from them for about a month or so, then medical request will come. Check your ECAS and see whether it says "we started processing your application" under PA's name.

Hi all ! I just found this part of this thread after writing my own. I will rewrite my thread here, it would be greatly appreciated if you could help answer some of my questions because I am quite lost.

Here goes:

My fiance (Canadian citizen) and I are due to be married in a month from now and would then like to apply for spousal sponsorship so that we can be together in the same place without breaks due to visa's.

She resides in Quebec and I hold two passports; UK and South African (grown up in South Africa and have only spent 7 months in the UK when i was 18).

I am currently on a 6 month visitors visa in Canada and am currently a month in, i will have 4 months remaining on the visitor visa once we are married.

As far as i understand an out-land sponsorship would be ideal because it allows me to leave and return to Canada during the application process (which would be helpful for me to do temporary work) , but as far as i understand i could be refused entry with my UK passport during this time. (I have visited in 2017 and 2018 for around 5 months per visit and fear this may be reason to deny entry to me in the future since this is my third visit to Canada in 3 years at this point in time.)

Inland sponsorship is also an option which does not allow me to leave Canada for over a year? (If this is the case Inland would take a major toll on my personal finances)
This option would only be decided if it were to avoid very long stretches of us being in different countries (We can survive a month at a time apart of course. But big periods of time for example six months is very hard on the relationship)

1.1) Are there any visa's or documents obtainable allowing further entry into Canada with UK passport due to marriage or out-land sponsorship being in progress or pending ?

2.1) Assuming we decide to apply for the out-land sponsorship program, what are the expected steps procedures? May i go via the UK ?

2.2) Who/what do i contact in the UK ? and how long would it take ?

3.1) Does anyone have any information of how and how long it would take via South Africa (Pretoria?) (I suspected Pretoria being the longest option of all but it seems above that this may not be the case.)

3.2) Who/what do i contact in South Africa ? and how long would it take ?

Thanks for Reading
