Hi,

I had applied for my wife PR in June 2018,her medical was done in October 2018, after that no updates all they say is background check going on from last 4 to 5 months....anyone applied during the same period and any update....

Do let me know.....any reply would be appreciated.

I think there are a lot of people from June (and July and August) in the same position right now, but at least they’re on to the background check, which is good news!

How long is the background check and when I called them they said my file might not go to Delhi they are trying to do everything at Mississauga office itself....but it's crazy wait....

My roommate he applied for his wife PR end of December day before he got his wife passport request....that's crazy....there is no timing on the same

The length of time it takes is different for every case, unfortunately. It’s very frustrating, but some people go fast and others go slow and there’s no rhyme or reason to it.

The background check might be done and they just haven’t updated your file. The background check might be stuck because they’re waiting for information from another country to arrive. The only way to get specific knowledge about your file is to order your GCMS notes and even then they might redact specific information about security-related things like background checks.

Your timeline is not at all unusual, though — your roommate’s timeline is unusually fast but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything for your application or anyone else’s. Right now a lot of people who applied in November and December are moving much more quickly than people who applied months earlier, in the summer... no one knows why, and it doesn’t feel fair, I know, but it’s just how things are.
