Hi All,

I'd like to get some advice on my particular situation so as to avoid any problems later down the road.

My wife who is Mongolian is applying for the Express Entry applicant route. I am a Canadian citizen and have been living abroad for 13 years. We are planning on making the move back at the end of the year. Since we are both living abroad in Taiwan at the moment, in the application expressing interest for Express Entry, we've had to state that I will be joining her to Canada.

After stating that I will be joining her in Canada, I have had to fill out my own information (ie. my work experience, my language skills, my education etc.). When filling out this information, I'm asked if I worked in Canada legally and many questions seems like they aren't suitable for those who are originally citizens. The questions seemed aimed at those who became naturalized citizens or gained PR status. It's all very confusing and I'm not sure if I'm filling it in appropriately,. So I wanted to ask here to get some guidance. My questions are:

  1. Did we fill do it right by saying that I will be joining her in the Express Entry application? Since I am originally a Canadian citizen is it necessary to say I will be joining her to Canada in the application?
  2. If so, will I also need to provide an Educational of Credentials Assessment (ECA) for my application? (BTW I've already obtained an ECA from the International Credential Evaluations Service at BCIT because I obtained my Masters in Taiwan however it isn't an ECA for immigration, only a general ECA)
  3. Can I just submit my general ECA since I'm not the one immigrating?
  4. Do I need to submit and IELTS test results? (I'm a Canadian citizen who is mother tongue is French, however I grew up in BC and am now more fluent in English, but I'm still pretty comfortable in both languages).
Hope that someone is able to answer these questions for my specific situation.

Looking forward to hearing your answers!

Eric

1 - You should be added as non-accompanying.
2 - Your ECA is not needed.
3 - Not needed.
4 - Not needed.

You should not be added as accompanying nor should your spouse be claiming points for your credentials.
