hello people, here is story, i never had high bp, but on day of medical it was 150/90 second time it was 160/90 and they told me to go for ECG, ECHO and blood creatinine. On same day i went for other tests. i passed medical in 30 days after EAPR/AOR. so it took same timeline with other people. and i am a doctor too, i have read on cic website about high blood pressure, they just want to make sure that people have no major disease like cardiac or renal problem. if your ecg, echo and creatinine comes normal than you are all good...
i guess this will help u guys.
Unrelated but if you want to continue practicing medicine I would discourage you from moving to Canada unless you worked and were trained in a few select countries. It is extremely hard to get relicensed as an IMG, takes many years, lots of money and no guarantees. You are also limited to mostly family medicine. It is only getting harder as the number of Canadian medical graduates has increased.

I just wrote this thread to release the tension for the people who diagnosed with high blood pressure that too white coat syndrome nothing else..unrelated lm already in IP2, im expecting PPR soon
Yes but you mentioned you were a physician who sometimes had white coat syndrome. I hope you have done extensive research and have realistic expectations if you are an IMG. There are so few IMGs that actually get to practice in Canada.

Without knowing your results and the type of test they are sending you for it is hard to comment. Perhaps a stress test. /if you have high bp you should really be trying to control it with medication and weight loss/lifestyle changes, if necessary, to prevent damages to your vascular system.

if other reports are fine than you are good to go.. dont worry at all. creatinine should be considered .

Dear All,
I did my medicals today. All went normal. Doc first checked my BP it was 150/90. After she did not say anything. At the time of final body check up another doc again checked BP. I don/t know readings again as he has not mentioned anything on paper. But when I asked about my BP he said..it happens. It's ok. He did not refer me for further test or anything. What can I understand from all these scenario?
@kpshukla29 which place was this ?

Well...yesterday was my 3rd visit..had my eco done this time...I was given a 24 hr BP observation machine (Ambulator) tied to my left arm. Thanks GOD! Average BP reading turned out to be normal.Eco report sounded good too..the doctor said Im ok and nothing wrong except my cholestrol levels...the doctor will upload all the reports now..lets see!!
Sounds really good Usijan. I bet they just put you on a statin. No big deal. Also since they are generic now they are fairly well priced.

My blood pressure was 146 over 96...do u think they will refer me to a cardiologiest?
That is pretty darn high especially the top (systolic). They recommend the emergency room in the hospital if you top 150 in most cases. I would want to see a cardiologist with pressures like yours. Usually this is easily controlled by fairly inexpensive meds.

Hello Guys,

My BP 14/87 and now my status (We are reviewing your medical results since a week. How long it takes to decide whether i need further test or not.

Thanks
Now I think that would be a challenge for a Cardiologist. (14/87) Just kidding. For the diastolic (bottom) 87 is pretty high. You wrote 14 so if you actually meant 140 that is high too. If it goes above 150 go to a hospital.

As I said before, my wife has high blood pressure, she was referred to a cardiologist ans she went through all the usual exams and everything was fine as long as she is taking her medicine.

We got our PR couple months latter.
Hi Rubens, I have the same situation with my dad who is 72. He takes meds for blood pressure. Doctor referred him to any Physician asking for a declaration that his heart is good. He went to a cardiologist and during the treadmill test he showed a bit arrhythmia. Doctor asked him to use a device for 24h to measuring his pressure. He doesn't have any heart problem, but I'm very concerned. Any thought?

Unlikely to be a problem but should probably have a holter monitor test annually.
