Muti entry visa

Hi guys

Looking for some info. We need to apply for a visa for my husband so we can go and visit our family in Canada. We are hoping to get 5 to 10 year mutli entry visa for him so we are free to visit. Last time we applied we had specific dates and he was approved, but he was only coming for 6 weeks.
Now we are wondering if we are applying for multi entry do we have to have specific dates? Or can we simply explain the situation with all the supporting documents, saying we would like to be able to be coming and going to see our family.

It's not a good idea to say you want a visa for X years to visit as often as you would like.

Validity of TRVs is decided by the visa officer who assesses your applications.... and it is based on a number of factors. All applications are automatically considered for multiple-entry except in certain cases
