Hi Everybody,
I have applied in George Brown College Canada for Wireless Networking Postgraduate Program. I have a bachelors degree in Telecommunication Engineering with a GPA of 2.51 (68%). I have following questions:

1. I want to know that is it easy to transfer my credits to a university in Canada after completion of this program, as my aim is to get a masters degree from Canada. And what are the job prospects of this program.

2. What is the purpose of a Postgraduate certificate or diploma, does it help for progression into a masters degree??

3. Can I get admission in Masters directly please suggest some Universities that will accept me with a 2.51 GPA or 68%.

Thanks

dude, even i m doing the same course which you are looking, and i got 1 year work permit and i got a job in the same field,so do not worry about the course and the job.if you want to do masters then it gonna cost you around 25000 per anum, and you wont get admission in a good university,,,,,,

But after this program I can get only 1 year Work permit, so after 1 year I will have to come back to Pakistan. what else can I do after this program to get PR.

If I get a good GPA in this wireless Networking Program can I get into a good university on the basis of that GPA or will they count my bachelors GPA.

There is a new PR program - if you do a Masters in Ontario from a standard university, you can apply for a PR with NO job offer. Go to the Ontario Immigration website.

Hi Masab,
I have a friend who recently finished her course at George Brown and she applied for the post graduation visa, which allows her to work in Canada. She found out that in Saskatchewan, they have a program that an international student who recently finished the course and in post graduate visa can look for a job there, any kind or field as long as permanent full time, after working for 6 months can apply for Provincial Nominee and saskatchewan will apply for a work permit while you wait for your PR...to understand better, go to cic website, provincial nominee then go to Saskatchewan...this is the best option rather than taking Masters and spend lots of money again...
hope this helps...

Hi Masab,
Are you referring to IT jobs? I think there are also need of technical people there, my friend just told me that in June, Bell will be launching their services in Saskatchewan which will mean that they will be hiring technical people and sales...
However, in order to qualify for provincial nominee, you don't need to look for a job related to your course, any job will do as long as it is fulltime.
Hope it helps...

But they ask for a minimum of two years of education under that nominee program, that is the issue and he applied in a one year program

Most of the agencies say the below things, but i am not sure there is a 100 % sucess for all....

1--- Get a Post graduate Certificate Prgm for 1 yr
2----move to Saskatchewan/ Alberta/Mantobia
3----find a fulltime job over there , work for 1yr
4----Apply through PNP
5--- Later PR ;)

But please remeber that it will take almost 15 months to get a PR through a PNP and by that time the you should be there too

A few who had done technical courses @ Toronto are working at restaurants @ Saskatchewan , hoping for a PR via PNP.

Enfield appreciate your thoughts on this :)

Hi george,

I think those agents are talking rubbish. It's not that easy. Let me clarify. To the best of my knowledge,
1. Most 1 year post graduate courses are 8 months old, so in reality CIC will give only 8 months post graduate work permit and getting a PNP nomination in that time-frame will be extremely difficult considering out of that 6 months will be gone working, that too if one finds the job immediately,so to get more months on work permit, 1 should pursue programmes with internships going upto 12 months, but securing internships/co-op is competitive and everybody may not get it. One needs to work only 6 months and not one year for applying via PNP students stream.

2. Alberta nomination programme (AINP) requires the job to be in one's related study field as well as the occupation needs to be in NOC O,A or B and host of other criteria, both for students and employers..so it's not at all easy.
http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrating/ainp-eds-international-graduate-criteria.aspx
/
Manitoba PNP requires students to study and pass out from a post secondary institution in MANITOBA( not in other province) and so this option is not open to all and strictly limited to Manitoba students.
http://www.immigratemanitoba.com/how-to-immigrate/eligibility/
/
Saskatchewan has the most favorable law for students to apply via SINP student stream as one can do a job not related to their field of atudy, work for 6 months and apply for SINP nomination. http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/student

However, As I said, MOST 1 year post graduate courses of 2 sems, only give you 8 months post graduate work permit, and SINP student nomination may take upto 2- 4 months. And I contacted SINP office and they said ONE MUST BE present in SK till the decision on SINP nomination comes. So even if one get immediately a job in SK, and say works for 6 months, still only 2 months will be left and by that time if PNP nomination decision isn't out, then one has to go back to their own country! When I asked about this specific query to SINP office, they said one must find a way to remain in Canada and asked me to contact CIC!.

Now, even I'm in dillemma as to what should one do? Since I too am planning to apply for a 1 year (8months ) post grad course and because co-op internship is not guaranteed,Is there a way to extend the 8 months work permit till PNP nomination decision comes??? There has to be a way..but I don't know any... Enfield/Seniors/others plz help... What do you guys think?

Hi tiger,
In sasketchwan it is possible to get p.r with 6 months experience if job is not releated to our previous study or not included in N.O.C. 0,A or B category?
Is it possible to get P.R. if we had fulltime 1 year job experience in N.O.C C, or D category in sasketchwan.
Waiting for your reply

Hi tiger thank you very much for your explanation in detail.
So it doesent mean if u goes for 1 year progarame or 2 years programe if one had 6 months experience.
I know it would be better if it is skilled position eperience to stand out from crowd.
So for which programe and course you r going?
