Hi All,

I am currently in Canada as PR. I would like to sponsor my parents for the same. Is there anyway I can do that? or I have to wait till my citizenship?

Looking forward for your help!

Thanks in advance!

You also need to have Notice of Assessments from CRA for the 3 years prior to applying to sponsor your parents. The NOAs must also show that you meet the income requirements based on the number of family members in your household plus your parents.

The most common reason people don't qualify to sponsor is because they either have not had 3 years of NOAs and/or don't meet the income requirements.

You will need to wait for 2 things:
1) When the parents and grandparents sponsorship application is open again next year or the years after depending when you start to qualify.
2) You need to have 3 years (or 1 year for resident of Quebec) of NOA to prove that you have enough income to support your new family size (including your parents). This usually means a decent job (or jobs) for at least 3 years before you can submit interest to apply at the beginning of the year following.

There is no difference sponsoring as PR or citizen.
