What is the average processing time for Iranian applicants now? I know it was pretty long for SS last year but the minister claimed it has been fixed. I wonder if the SS still takes much longer than normal?
I will be passing the 6 month period but from what I understand that doesn't even mean anything...
I think it takes between 1 year to 3 years for most Iranians to get approved on their file.
They claim that's because the Iranian government doesn't share the Iranians' info with Canada. (I don't believe that it is the only reason!)

Now, who did claim that it is fixed? Could you share a reference?

There are Iranians who have received their PR within 6 months period and there are people who have waited for more than a year... It is not the case for everyone though. And I also have never heard what you are saying about the Iranian Government not sharing info with Canada in security screening stage. Do you have a reference for it?

Minister Hussein:
as of May 1, 2018, the average processing time for outstanding Iranian security screenings for permanent resident applications was in line with all other nationalities. From January 1 to June 31, 2018, 3,657 Iranian citizens were approved for permanent residency in Canada.

I didn't say that there are no Iranians who got their PPR within 6 months. I already used "think" & "most Iranians" in my statement... I hope you get yours within 6 months :)
No, I don't have a reference. This is what I'm told by an immigration lawyer. He is not Iranian btw. I agree that I should have been more precise about that. Sorry!

Also take a look at Iranian trackers:
https://myimmitracker.com/en/ca/trackers/iranian-e-apr-tracker

In 2017 the wait was so long but most of the 2018 applicants got theirs within 6 months period and some got it a even less...
Let's just take a look at this, though I don't think myimmitracker provides a reliable random sample of Iranian applicants.

The number of Iranian cases on myimmitracker with AOR between Jan 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018 is 41.
About 34% of them (=14) got their PPR within 6 months.
It's better than Iranian cases with AOR between Jan 1, 2017 and June 30, 2017 (19%); however,
it is still way far from the average of applicants who get their PPR within 6 months (80%).

Long time ago, I read some useful info in the other forums regarding background and security checks. Since I have seen some disagreement in this topic about SS, criminality, eligibility, etc., I would like to share these links with you guys, though some of you might have already read them. I hope it would be helpful:

@aasaf is right and Iran government do not share any info of its citizens with U.S. & CANADA ( at least these 2 countries I am sure about )
even Iranian organizations like Universities do not respond to the inquires made by WES or other foreign orgs. consequently everything has to go to be verified by third party verification or based on trust or based on no record found. Having said that we have no diplomatic channel with Canada.

@aliagha & @rajahoomi welcome to the group

@rajahoomi Welcome to the forum my friend and thanks for sharing the links and thanks for the great discussion with @aasaf. I agree with @rajahoomi that for some time last year and after all the campaigns, CIC started to speed up a little bit for Persians. But I feel it was only temporary and it is going back to the same speed as before. I also read the links very carefully. There are some points that I noticed (assuming that the info they gave is correct not the same lies from politicians).

1- "in 2015, the average wait time for Iranian permanent resident applications from individuals residing in Iran was 32.6 months longer than for citizens of all other countries". Wow, I mean really wow. Thanks for this Mr. Ahmed.

2- "By July 2018 the difference was down to 10.5 months". Right now the processing time for 80% of express entry is less than 6 month, so it not hard to assume that the average is less than 6 month. But for Persians it is 6+10.5 = 16.5 months !!!!

3- "as of May 1, 2018, the average processing time for outstanding Iranian security screenings for permanent resident applications was in line with all other nationalities". If I were there, I would have asked what the f**k do you mean by "in line with other nationalities"? Is he just using some gibberish politically corrected words not to give a concrete answer of how much longer Persians are in SS. Even in immitracker, if you sort applicants by the day from aor to ppr, the first ranks are all Iranian. Then, what does he mean when he says "in line", average, median, or 95th percentile?

4- Also, it is not only abut the average time of SS for Persians, but also the frequency of Persians that undergo SS. I am sure if less than 5% of other applicants undergo SS, more than 50% of Persians are under SS (we can check immitrakcer at least)

5- "From January 1 to June 31, 2018, 3,657 Iranian citizens were approved for permanent residency in Canada." I wonder how many of these were the people stuck from long ago that finally moved.

6- I also applied under CEC, my education, work experience, medical exam, English, .... are all Canadian. So, I want to tell them don't give me the crap that each application is unique blah blah blah. Other than SS, there was nothing about my application that was hard to verify.

Sorry guys, TL;DR Just watch this one, if you haven't already:

Homan jan, Thanks for the link again, but I don't completely agree with the conclusions. For example, there is a candidate who got his pr in 60-70 days. If you look at his comments, he mentions along the line, he was grown up and living in another country! Lots of the people who got less than 180 days applied under PNP. I don't know the processing time for pnp, but maybe they went through some background check before they get nominated by the province (I am not sure though, please help me if you have more info). Also the percentage of Persians who have to wait for more than 6 months is much higher than other nationalities. For example, compared to people from the same region, Persians has the highest percentage of SS with highest processing time. I know a lot of Pakistani are also sent to SS, but at least we could see a lot of them on immitracker that they get their pr in 3-4 months. So, at least they have some hope!!!

Thanks for the statistics mate. So what are we gonna do? We have no choice but to keep waiting until this madness will end. I believe inland applicants are somehow in better situation. I totally understand you guys also have your own limitations and difficulties while waiting for your PR, but at least you are not living in this pathetic condition in Iran. Pas khoda ro shokr konid :D

Hi,
I just called CIC and they told me everything is fine with my application and eligibility has been passed but I am under SS from October. I am an August applicant and it means 1.5 months after submitting my application SS is started. Based on the experience of you guys I think there is no point to order the note at this stage. Right? Furthermore, so far they didn't ask me for ADR. Can SS be done without asking for ADR?
Thanks in advance
