Hello All,

Our OWP application was received on October 2nd,2018. So I called CIC this morning asking we have crossed 4 months deadline, They said they will only process OWP application if you get SA. So question to you people who got their OWP, did you aldready got your SA(Sponsership Approval) before getting work permits.

Hi!
I haven't got any news on SA up to know.
I checked ECAS and MyCIC and there is nothing.
Maybe it's implied... Which means, they approved the sponsor for those who have got the OWP but they just don't notify us.

If your status expired when you sent out the OWP and you did not apply for restoration then you would be receiving it after SA/AIP

hi there , i got my OWP on 16 Jan. but when i called CIC back in Dec 2018 around 10 dec, i was told the same thing that if my husband is eligible to sponsor me only then i will be issued OWP. i asked and she replied because my application is based on sponsorship and they will check my eligibility and if met the eligibility then will get OWP. I guess two applications are different , here they mean they will check my eligibiliy for OWP and my sponsorer as well.

I am so happy for you guys all who got their OWPs and feel so fortunate on your behalf :)

Some of you know that I am a Sep 12th applicant... I still got no updates on my OWP, sent a case-specific inquiry through the webform on Jan 16 and received a reply on Jan 22 stating that they are still processing it and will communicate with me once a decision is made. I also called the Call Centre twice and was told each time that it may take up to 5 months and asked me to call back if I still haven't heard anything by then.

Today is my 145th day since CIC received my application in the mail (5 days shy from 150 days = 5 months if CIC uses 30-day month), and the 152nd day if I count from the date that it says received on MyCIC.

Calendrically otherwise, Feb 12 will be my 5th month or tomorrow will be the 5th month if I use the MyCIC receipt date. I am gonna be patient and will be calling them on Feb 12 and hopefully can get some definitive answer and get the case escalated in my favour.

Any updates on your part @Ictyyz and @Laca?

I'm not sure - I received my OWP already, but sponsor eligibility wasn't communicated and isn't listed on eCAS. Sounds a bit weird.

It came the day before the due date! Down to the wire but I sent in the documents the same day as the deadline :)

Hello all,

I got my OWP approval and got a letter from CIC saying the same. Can I apply for SIN based on it or do I need to wait till I get my actual work permit.
