US Police Clearance: FBI Processing Times

If anyone is reading this and wondering about processing times, here is my timeline:
-Submitted electronic request on September 8th, 2018
-Mailed out fingerprint cards Sept. 11
-Delivered to Clarksburg WV Sept. 13 (sent USPS Priority Mail)
-Received Identity History Summary electronically 9AM Sept. 17

My account said missing fingerprints the whole time, didn't see it update to "processing" or anything in real time, so they must just do it all at once. Pretty quick!

Has anyone had luck with the eDO site recently? I've tried Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera, Chrome and Edge and keep getting "Request malformed" when trying to finish/pay for the report. Anyone have suggestions?

I've completed a US PCC (FBI Identity History) through a FBI-approved channeler and directly from the US DOJ. Long story short, I misunderstood the directions and had my sister complete a check too. It was very unnecessary, but it did give me experience going both routes. Both should be approved by CIC since, well, I followed their links!

Regardless of which way you go -- directly or third-party -- your results will effectively look the same, though slightly different. Not sure which route you went, but either way you should have received a page that has the DOJ seal and West Virginia address at the top, then your name and address below it. Underneath that you'll see when the search was completed and the results. Depending on your criminal history, you'll see either a short sentence confirming you have not had run-ins with the law, or if you have gotten into some trouble, those things will appear. If you have a clean record, it'll simply be one page and nothing more. At the end of your "rap sheet" you'll see the signature of the section chief.

From what I've seen, the slight difference between channeler and "direct" results is that the former is in color (DOJ seal), while the latter is in black-and-white. Also, the PDF version of the direct PCC has an additional page with a giant FBI logo on it. Other than that, they're the same.

I had issues with mine too... it wouldn't let me pay. That was months ago, so I see their site still has issues. I just keep re-submitting the info and eventually it let me move on. It's almost like it's just busy at that moment. I kept re-entering the info (which was time consuming) and finally it let me pay and confirmed my request about 20 minutes later.

Does anyone come across this problem? We are in Australia, kinda afraid that we need to submit by mail again and wait for another 4 months!!!

Hi Kmich & NK,

I had the same issue for the past 2 days - got an error message on payment.
But I was able to do it today.

Here is what I did differently -

1. Don't copy paste, type everything - even the PIN
2. Find an odd time when the server would be relatively free. I tried at 6 PM ET on a weekday (My logic was people trying from Asia would still be asleep and people in North America traveling back from work)

I had no delay at all and it was very quick.

I received my hard copy by mail a few days ago. It looks the same as online copy.

Is the hard copy any different from A4 paperprint which we take PDF version of FBI certificate

The hard copy is the same as the PDF you receive via email from the FBI. If you print it out, it will be accepted as the original.

Hello. I have a problem and wonder if anyone here can help.
My mother is 85y. She is in india at the moment. Needs fbi clearance for canada pr. Fbi says fingerprints quality too poor. Company who did it says because of age. We are repeating fingerprints, but if age has caused too much smoothening prints will never be of good enough quality.
Anybody else faced similar problem? What can be done? Any suggestion greatly appreciated. Thanks

It takes about a week from when they receive your fingerprints to receive the certificate by email. The whole process can be done in less than 2 weeks if you send in your fingerprints right away.

Also SSN - should we mention whole 9 digits ?
