Spouse sponsorship - local MPA letter

Hi,

I am about to sponsor my husband and i am a citizen of Canada. Someone suggested me that i should get a written recommendation from my city Mayor's office or from MPA. This will add more credibility to my application. and they will be verify that my family is residing in that city.

My question is that is this really worth doing?
