Expiring PR Card

Hi, i am going outside Canada in Feb 9, 2019 and planning to stay outside for 11 months. My PR card will expire Feb 8, 2020 and I stayed inside Canada for more than 900 days. Will I be fine entering Canada next year even my PR card will expire in less than a month? My PR card will still be valid by that time but will i get in trouble? Thanks.

Your case isn't clear. You have previously said that you have already been out of Canada for 1.5 years. Please list dates when you have been inside or outside Canada.

Hi sorry about that. I landed Canada Dec 24, 2014. I went outside the country April 4, 2016-May 16, 2016. Next I went outside May 4, 2017-Oct 27, 2017. Then went out again Dec 31, 2017-Oct 28, 2018.

Ok so you have to meet the 2 years by December 24, 2019.

Looks like you have already been out of Canada for approximately 17 months so you should be finw if you plan to leave for 11 months. Before leaving you need to call your provincial health plan and advise of your absense. Don't use the health system because you are not planning on meeting the residency requirement needed to get coverage. You also need to call CRA and cancel any child benefit if you currently have children.

Hi! I had my PR card on 2016 and it will expire on 2021. I stayed in Canada in 2016-2017 and then came back to the Philippines for 2 years to finish my bachelors. I came back again in Canada this 2019 and will stay until 2020 but will have to go back again in the Philiipinnes to finish my 2 years remaining to be a doctor. I'll be only completing 695 days and not 730 days as a PR. I'll not be able to renew my PR Card in 2021 because I'll be stil studying at that moment. Do you guys think they will grant me PRTD to travel back in Canada in 2020 even I didn't meet the 2 years stay requirement? Thanks in advance

Others can comment as well but if you apply for a PRTD having not met the RO it is possible the process to revoke your PR will be started. Unfortunately being outside of the country for education reasons is seen as a personal choice and not something IRCC tend to consider.

are you calculating the days from landed date or PR card issue date given you should use landed date ?

Would also point out that it is incredibly difficult to get a residency spot as an IMG so getting licensed as an MD may never be possible in Canada. If you are not meeting your RO expect for your PRTD to be refused. Seeking education abroad is a personal choice not H&C.
