I am an indian student, and have recieved letter of acceptance from a canadian college. But my qyery is that i have recently married and registered it successfully in law. Pls advise me should i update my passport before or after Visa???

It's not mandatory to endorse your husband's name on your passport. However, it could help for certain reasons. The choice is entirely yours.
That said, if you have changed your name/family name after your marriage, you must apply to have your passport re-issued. Do check the Indian Passport website for the Document Checklist. You must apply to have the passport re-issued before you apply for a study permit
