South korea
Category........
Im citizen of bangladesh and currently studying in south korea for 2 years as an undergraduate student.

Im basically looking to transfer my study to yorkville university and they said transfer is possible.

So will there be any issue if i go ahead and apply for study permit from here in south korea or i need to apply from my country?
(if both is okay, do u think applying from korea has any advantages rather than applying from my country? )

one last thing, since my parents are my sponsor so i can only show bank statement from bangladesh cause my parents living there. so is it okay to fund from there or i need to show here in korea in my account.

Thanks in advance. Im new in this forum and really finding it interesting. So i thought why not ask member here my query.

Applying from another country other than your home country may prove difficult as you have to show strong ties to that country. As your family is in Bangladesh, all your ties are there and you have none in Singapore. The ties issue is to convince the officer that you will leave Canada after your course.

Ummm i see.i can go back to my country for sure for processing and say that im living in bangladesh as all other students. i can mention that in my application i suppose.

But in that case how can i say my current status? cause im not studying in my country and if i mention im studying in korea that can raise another question that is why im not applying from korea or why im applying from bangladesh since im just transfering from korea to canada.

hope i made a point.

I am not saying you can't apply from Singapore, but you have a larger change of rejection since you are the only one there. I assume you have not property or a job in Singapore? If you apply from Singapore you would need to write a very good SOP explaining why you would return.

I would suggest finishing your studies in Singapore, move back to Bangladesh and apply from there.

Ummm i see. im living in south korea by the way not singapore.
Thanks for the suggestion. Let’s see what can be done.

I dnt think you have to show proof of strong ties in south korea as you just went there to study. But you need to show strong ties with BD, like your family, properties etc.

Sorry, I don't think this is right. If the OP is applying from South Korea, they need to show why they will return there. It would be better for them to finish studying, go back to their home country and apply from there. Better chance of succeeding in my opinion.

It doesn't matter if it's temporary or not, you are still applying FROM there. You have my advice, it's up to you whether you take it or not. good luck

im not denying your advice by no means.
its gonna be very difficult for me to go back to my country now for processing cause im studying full time here and have part time job to maintain.
that’s why i was thinking to apply from here.

just out of curiosity, is there any way not to mention that im in korea in my application? like i’ll mention that living in bangladesh right now.

If you don't say you are in Korea (when you are), you are committing misrepresentation which is a serious offence. In doing this you risk being banned from Canada for 5 years, so I strongly suggest you don't even think of lying. If you have an apartment and Job in Korea, you can mention this in your SOP to strengthen your case.

Withholding information is a big no-no when applying for any visa. If found out, you could face a temporary or even a permanent ban, depending on severity. Besides, if you do not mention your current activity, how would you explain the gap?
