Student Permit and TRV

My SP and TRV expired on Dec 20. I applied for SP extension on Nov 6th and managed to get approval today, 25th. Can apply to renew my TRV with the usual TRV application or do I need to apply for restoration of my TRV?

You need to wait for the paper study permit to reach you then apply for TRV.

Yes thanks. But do I need to apply for restoration because my trv has expired? Cos there’s a different fee for restoration and may be a different form? Or do I just use the usual trv form since I have an extended SP already? I do not understand when to use restoration and extension. Thanks

You will have to go for restoration as your TRV has expired. You can't extend an expired TRV.

The application for TRV and study permit restoration seem to be the same did you submit this for your study permit.

I checked I used Form 5709 (extension of status a student). It is similar to what you sent (5708). So do i upload the same kit for the restoration of TRV then? I did check that the restoration is asking for either of the two forms (5709 or 5708). So I should use the same yeah?Thanks so much

My SP and TRV expired on dec 20. I just received my SP extension approval yesterday. So my TRV is expired

You dont need to restore TRV. Restoration is only if you let your "status" i.e your study permit in Canada expire without applying for an extension.

TRV is only required if you leave Canada and want to come back, so you dont even need it to stay in Canada but it is recommended to get one just in case.
