Greetings,

I have got a friendly divorce from my wife (ex-wife to be exact). Now we are planning to take our two children on a trip to Canada (all four of us).

Could I count her in as a family member? Or a separate application should be submitted for her?

Thanks!

She is not a family member because she is no longer your legally married spouse nor your common-law partner. Each applicant must submit a separate application.

If your children are minor, you can apply on their behalf. Although she will be applying/traveling with you and your children, you must include letters of consent from your ex-wife allowing you to take the kids abroad + copies of her passport and her 24/7 contact information.

I suggest you apply as paper submissions. Do request the VAC staff to bag all four applications together so that they are assessed by the same visa officer
