Canada work permit eligibility

Hi Team,

My employer is trying to initiate Canada work permit visa for me. It seems there is an eligibility criteria that the employee must have a min 1 year experience in the same company where the visa initiated. Is that true? because I don't see any where in the Canada immigration site about this eligibility criteria. Can you please confirm the same?

If your employer is trying to obtain a work permit through the ICT program (LMIA exempt), then yes - there is a rule that you must have worked for your employer for at least a year before you can qualify for this visa.

They would need to obtain an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit.

Sorry to ask the same question again. So, you mean to say it is possible to get the work permit, even though if I have less than 1 year experience in the applying company?

Yes - if your employer can obtain an approved LMIA. This is typically a 4-6 month process.
