I am in Canada currently on a 2-year study permit. I was a Pharmacist back home and the college of pharmacy here has recognized my license and they gave me a practice permit. I am curious if I fall under being able to work without a permit but for no more than 20 hours a week? Where can I find this information? Would I have any other restrictions? thank you kindly

You off campus work permit allows you to seek part time jobs and allows you to work for 20hrs a week. You will know better than is if your pharmacy practice permit allows you to work part time or not.

the only restriction that study permit is the 20hrs per week time limit and obviously full time employment. If you want full time employment then you will have to file for work permit.

Ok thanks so much.

Once I am done my studies and I want to work after. Can I apply for a Post Graduate Open Work Permit? Does that mean I would be exempt from an LMIA?

Yes, with a PGWP you will be exempt from LMIA. However the number of years you get PGWP depends on the length of your program. Anything less than 8 months gets no PGWP, 1 Year program's get 1 year PGWP and anything for 2 years or more gets 3 years PGWP.

Awesome. Thank you very much. One last question. Once I finish my studies, am I able to work while I wait for my permit?

Yes, as long as you start working after applying for the PGWP you can work full time till you get conformation of your application.
