OPT counted as work experience

Hi all,

I am in the process of filling the express entry application. Can someone help me in figuring out if work done while in US on F-1 visa and under work permit OPT will count as a work experience. I have 3 years of experience but all on the OPT EAD while in US. I know that work on CPT does not count but hoping if I can use work done on OPT. I did 40 hours and have the pay stubs etc.

Canadian work experience under a Canadian study permit does not count. Outside of Canada, it does not matter whether you were a student or not. If your work experience was skilled, you can provide the letter of reference and supporting documents (W-2 would be better than all the pay stubs, and you have at least one year full-time (or the equivalent in part-time) work experience, you can use it.

It will work as long as the work is under full time job. it doesn't mater OPT or CPT.

It counts as full time. I applied, still to get PPR but my eligibility has been met.

Hello my friend, I'm in the same boat. Can I use CPT for work experience under FSW? I have all the paperwork (paystub, W2, reference letter...etc.). And did you know anyone using CPT have ever received PR yet?
