Permanent Resident Renewal Timeline 2018

chiefone, my application was received about 2.5 weeks after yours and I got my AOR (and simultaneously DM on the same day) a week ago today. However, it seems like there are a lot of August applicants (like kalpaca) who are only just now getting their cards, and if you read all of the pages for this topic, there are people who literally never get an AOR and don't hear anything until they get their card. It seems to be impossible to predict an average timeline or what is 'normal' and your application depends on which CIC officer processes your application and whether that officer updates ECAS/MyCIC. The other two factors seem to be whether your application was even received at all (did you track it after you mailed it? Did someone at CIC sign for it?) and/or whether CIC suspects something like fraud or that you might not meet the residency obligation (RO), in which case the processing takes longer before you hear anything.
Hi paul2587,

Thanks for the information. I sent it through registered mail, but unfortunately misplaced the tracking number, so I have no idea if it wasn't received. But if it wasn't received or if there was an issue with the application wouldn't it be returned to me. I'm hoping that I hear something or it's been processed and i'll just receive my card in the mail. I have a family trip booked for December 12th

I just recently finished reading all 90+ pages of comments on this topic and I can tell you that your situation is not uncommon. There have been several others this year who had their applications processed without ever receiving an AOR or any email from CIC. There are also several who had their applications lost and never got them back; it's impossible to say whether the application was lost by Canada Post or CIC but either way, they didn't track the application and CIC had no record of it after a few months had passed. Not trying to scare you or sound negative, just stating some facts. If your PR card is expiring in early December or has already expired, you should re-apply as an urgent applicant. CIC has processed urgent applications in 1-2 weeks. Obviously, you could also re-enter via US land border so it is up to you, but if you are leaving in 2.5 weeks it's a bit of a gamble either way.

My wife is a PR. She was able to get her passport changed to my last name. However, they are still processing her PR name change.

At this point, she has: her old (void) passport with her maiden name, her valid PR card with her maiden name and her new valid passport with her new name.

We will be travelling to Japan soon and her new PR card has not arrived, which means we are stuck with those three items.

Will she be able to re-enter Canada with those three items? Is there anything else we need to do?

Any update DM applicants?
DM since 28 October. Yesterday, I called the IRCC call center. The agent told me they ordered card production since 28 Oct. and asked me to wait for another 2-4 weeks. She will give a heads up to the card production center. No further information or reason given. Waiting continues.....

Unfortunately, none of us on here are experts. I don't think anyone on here can answer this for sure because part of it depends on the whims and decision making abilities of the airline employees when you are traveling back to Canada, given the discrepancy in your wife's name on her official documents. You should get in touch with both the airline and the Canadian embassy in Tokyo. Explain the situation to the airline and see what they say.

There is an example somewhere on this forum of a person who recently flew back to Canada from Japan with an invalid PR card who was able to get the Canadian embassy in Japan to authorize their travel directly with the airline, which implies that talking to the embassy and the airline in advance could help you.

Hi Ultraman, same situation as yours. Sent web mail strongly requesting updates. received email couple of days later requesting photo retakes in spite of having confirmation of approval and no further documents required. I would strongly advise you to send request via web mail and inquire if photo retakes are required especially considering the questionably long production lead time. Issues with photos seems most likely cause for delays in production. FYI 5 wks in production and counting. The wait continues....

Hi omg123, do you have a URL or email address for the web mail enquiry you sent?

Hello everyone,
I applied to renew my father's PR and the info on the ecase is as follow:
  1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on June 4, 2018.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on September 18, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on September 18, 2018.
  4. We sent you correspondence on September 18, 2018. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.
So on September 18, 2018 my dad was asked to mail them some additional documents(copy of the passports page, travel record), and they received the additional documents after 30 days. And a few days after they got the additional documents, the status of the ecase changed to decision made. Since after sending the additional documents, we didn't hear anything from them, I sent a web query a few days ago and they replied by saying that the application is still in process(then why the status is decision made??!).

Is the situation of my dad's application normal?! Does anybody know roughly how long it takes that they issue and post the PR card after receiving the additional documents? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

!!!!!!!!!!Hi GUYS !! I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am currently helping my mom renewing her PR card. However she traveled abroad SO MANY times in the last 5 years, and she lost track of her own travel record in the year of 2015 and 2016. And therefore I can not calculate her physical presence days at this point.
Any suggestions would be much much appreciated!

Thank you all in advance!

Call them by tomorrow morning. If the status says decision made, then your PR went for production. If the application says IN PROCESS that means it’s in process. I had mine deceision made without any queries and called them and they told it went for production. I’m sure if the deceision is made without any queries then your PR is under production. Best of luck. Don’t forget to call them by tomorrow morning.

Thanks for your replay. But call them and ask them what?! I already sent them a web query and they told me it's still in progress.

Never mind coz when I saw mines I called right away and they said it’s sent out for production. Usually if the decision has been made without any queries then it means card is sent out for production. Well, if it’s still in process then status shouldn’t be decision made it should say IN PROCESS. I think you should be fine.
