I have been asked to travel to BC for work March 31-April 6.

It has not been 5 years since my DWAI. I will not be driving while I'm there.

Do I need to submit an application for a TRP or Rehabilitation or both?

Can you include expected processing times in your response?

Please advise with experience.

You can only apply for rehabilitation once five years have passed.

If 5 years haven't passed yet, then your only option is a TRP. TRP processing times vary widely. Anything from a few weeks to a number of months - so very hard to guess how long it might take.

Whether you will be driving or not while here is irrelevant. This has to do with admissibility to enter the country.

I understand the 5 years, but at this link, it says "If you need to come to Canada but cannot apply for rehabilitation because five (5) years have not passed since the end of the sentence imposed .. you may request special permission to enter or remain in Canada. To do this, complete the Application for Criminal Rehabilitation (IMM 1444) (PDF, 1.18MB) and make sure you check the box that states “For Information Only”. Attach the documents outlined in the Document Checklist."

So that seems to say apply for Rehabilitation first? Anyone have insight?

If you read the details, you'll see that the outcome of such an application is either a recommendation not to come to Canada or a recommendation to apply for a TRP. You're better off applying for the TRP directly. It's not unusual for rehab application processing to take over a year. So it doesn't make sense to add this extra step.

Are you from the US by any chance? If so, you might have option at the border which aren't available to others.

Yes, I am from the US. Okay, so I should apply for a TRP or TRV? I am confused on what I need to apply for.

Can you confirm I need to follow these guidelines to travel on business? Here is the link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...rvices/visit-canada/business/eligibility.html

I wasn't planning on going to the border, I am not close to one. Why do you recommend? It doesn't look like i need to apply for an eTA, can you confirm?

Please advise on anything else you think I need to do to travel for a week on business with a DWAI.

Do i need to apply for a work permit? Or a TRV?
The online application for TRV is not letting me apply online, can anyone explain how to apply for a TRV online?
