Hello guys,

My employer has applied my work permit on 21 June and still not heard from Service Canada as to even granting them a positive LMIA. Then on September 1st my employer sent a written request as to expedite the file as the suitable candidate ( me ) is already in Canada but they refused to expedite and said it will be dealt with standard procedures/ time giving No particular timeline for processing. I currently have applied for extension for my visitor visa just to wait for my permit , it’s already 3 months now since employer has applied For LMIA , can anyone advise how long the wait will be? Does service Canada have a Deadline or SOP for foreign worker permits?

Many thanks
SJS

It's quite normal for LMIAs to take 4 months to be approved. So your LMIA processing times look normal as of now.

There is no deadline for foreign work permit processing. It can be a bit riskier to apply from within Canada since it's more difficult to demonstrate ties to your home country.

Hello Scylla, please let know as to why it is risky to apply within Canada?

IRCC sometimes refuses individuals for lacking ties to their home country. Harder to demonstrate ties if you are already here - so somewhat higher chance of refusal if you apply from within Canada.

If that is an exact copy of the LMIA from the company , it’s a fake . Spelling mistakes , as well as the email is incorrect for the government. GOC emails end in .gc.ca

Was not that difficult to find that the genuine company has a web page warning about fake job offers. Just wish people would spend a few minutes using Google to investigate before being sucked into these scams. Took me as long as it takes to type ‘atco job scam’ to find the link below.
